[Dream of the Red Chamber] Get Rich, Rise in Rank, and Marry Daiyu

Only after returning to the capital to receive his rewards for distinguished service did Mu Chuan realize he had transmigrated into the world of Dream of the Red Chamber. Of course, he wasn't a nameless nobody in the original story, either. His family had a history with both Granny Liu's family and the Zhou Rui family. The original text says, “Zhou Rui fought to buy the land, with Dog'er lending considerable help.” The land in question belonged to the Mu family. Thirty-five mu of fine paddy fields were “voluntarily” sold to Zhou Rui for thirty taels of silver. Overnight, the Mu family, once small landowners, fell into poverty. His grandfather died of joy because he was “so happy.” His second uncle broke his leg because he was “so happy.” And the original owner, unable to pay to avoid corvee labor, was dragged off to serve as a soldier on the border at fourteen and lost his life far too young. Now that he had returned to the capital, it was time to settle the score properly. For example, he could marry Lin Daiyu, drain the Lin family assets that the Rongguo House had misappropriated, and give the Jia family a hard kick right where their foundations were crumbling. He'd also make sure the Jia family saw how well he was doing, and how well Lin Daiyu was doing: the girl they'd scorned for her frail health and sharp tongue, who had endured “three hundred and sixty days a year, assailed by the wind's knives and frost's swords.” Please note: 1. Romance from the male lead's perspective, with Lin Daiyu as the heroine. A sweet, indulgent romance. 2. The male lead plays favorites and holds a double standard. He never turns his frustration inward, only takes it out on others. 3. The early story has a touch of stealing someone's love and poaching someone else's partner, but overall it's a healing story about food, drink, and everyday family life. 4. He will not save the Jia family. Theme: Love is the source of courage and the beginning of a happy life.
