Third-person narration
I am a eunuch, a real eunuch.
But so what? I hold immense power. With a single thought, I can decide who lives and dies. I am second only to one person, and above millions: The Outcast.
When I entered the palace, I received the kindness of a noble consort.
Unfortunately, before I had the chance to repay her, that poor woman died within the palace walls.
As she lay dying, she entrusted her only son to me. "Chief Eunuch, after I die, I only hope you can spare this child's life. I ask for no wealth or glory for him in this lifetime, only that he live in peace and happiness. If you do not disdain me, let us become brother and sister, and let this child call you uncle."
And so, this noble-blooded prince privately called me uncle.
I broke my promise.
I don't know whether that child lived a worry-free life, but he certainly lived one of wealth and glory.
He took the highest throne of all.
My power and influence grew even greater. After all, I had raised this emperor, who had been neglected from a young age, to adulthood.
I wasn't exactly attentive to the child in every way, but I did fulfill his every wish.
I just don't know what I did wrong to make him develop feelings for me that crossed all bounds of propriety.
Was it because I'm a eunuch that he sees me as a woman?
I hate it most when people call me beautiful. Anyone bold enough to say it to my face has had their tongue cut out.
I asked him why.
He said, "Because Uncle is the person who loves me most in the world."
I understood. He had a case of imprinting.
I told him to calm down, then immediately ordered preparations for the next selection of consorts the following day.
Once he met some gentle, sweet young ladies, he'd realize that even though I'm a eunuch, I'm still a man, and I can't compare to a woman's tender affection.
But I don't know why his condition seems to be getting worse.
He even dared to lock me up!
That bastard!
P.S. The male lead is a real eunuch, with a twelve-year age gap. If you can't accept that, enter with caution.
