Why Hasn't He Called Off the Engagement Yet?

Wu Shuyin was stunningly beautiful and lively, the apple of her family's eye. Everything went her way, except for one thing that troubled her.

Xie Cong was exceptionally intelligent, handsome and talented, and the youngest top scorer in the imperial examinations, yet he disliked drawing attention to himself.

They were a perfect match, but Wu Shuyin thought Xie Cong was as cold as ice and terribly dull.

She wanted to break off the engagement,

but her parents would never agree.

-

Xie Cong had known since childhood that he was betrothed to a young woman from the Wu family. He had never given much thought to his fiancée.

He had no idea when she began seeking him out so often, behaving and speaking in ways that were bold and suggestive.

Xie Cong blushed. "Such outrageous behavior! Whatever will people think!"

Seeing that he disliked it, Wu Shuyin pushed things further, hoping Xie Cong would send her a letter breaking off the engagement.

She waited several days. No letter came, but she did see Xie Cong standing outside with a cold expression.

Xie Cong: Why haven't you come to see me these past few days?

Wu Shuyin: What happened to breaking off the engagement?

Theme: Pursuing a beautiful life.
