The Tool-Woman Wife Is Finally Standing Up

Yuan Zhen woke up at a truly terrible time.

Before her eyes was a blinding red veil. In her hands was a soft red wedding sash. Beside her, the ceremonial official was drawing out the words, "Second bow, to the parents..."

She had transmigrated into a regret-and-redemption romance novel, becoming the male lead's "perfectly timed" wife, a supporting female character.

This was an agonizingly tragic story. The heroine spent half the book groveling, but the male lead was a snowy peak that could never be warmed. By the time the heroine had lost all hope and faked her death to disappear, the news arrived on the very day he was getting married to his new bride.

A funeral crashing a wedding: sorrow and joy side by side, a classic scene.

Good news: She wasn't the heroine who suffered for half the book, so she didn't need to fake her death and disappear.

Bad news: She was the supporting character currently in the middle of the wedding. :)

As the catalyst for the heroine's disappearance, this highborn young lady, carefully chosen by her family, already had her ending written for her: abandoned at her wedding feast, divorced and sent back to her family, then hurriedly married off as a second wife to a man old enough to be her father, becoming a laughingstock throughout the capital.

The gentle, reserved heroine in the book couldn't endure such humiliation. She took a white silk sash, hung it from the rafters, and killed herself.

The wedding candles crackled, pulling Yuan Zhen's thoughts back to the present.

Beneath the veil, she slowly tightened her grip on the red sash.

Before the ceremonial official could speak again, she took the lead. Grabbing the other end of the sash from the distracted man, she bent forward briskly to bow.

Become a second wife? Not in this lifetime.

She refused to be a love-life catalyst for the protagonist in this man-eating ancient world. This marriage had to happen, whether he wanted it to or not. :)
