[A slow-witted, sarcastic, beautiful and tragic bottom x a flamboyant, gloomy, nonhuman top]
Lu Shi was an orphan, and he was about to die.
1.
Ever since a hole split open in the sky and a whole pile of eggs came tumbling down, hatching into indescribable monsters, the world had been plunged into panic.
Organizations to manage otherworldly species were set up everywhere to fight them and maintain social stability.
Thanks to his extraordinary psychic powers and his famously tenacious luck, Lu Shi had once become the youngest chief combat officer in the Huaguo Bureau of Otherworldly Species Management. But in a single day, he fell from grace and became a repairman in the logistics department. Even stray dogs passing by would have sighed at how pathetic he was, and rumors ran wild for a while.
Meanwhile, Lu Shi, who was simply dying, was at home fretting over the little pet lamb he'd just picked up.
Lu Shi posted online to ask the ever-helpful netizens: Why does the little animal I picked up keep butting me with its... head, and trying to strangle me with its tail? Does it hate having me near? [Worried] [Worried]
Netizen A: ...Why are you and the cat always making such a racket?
Netizen B: You're basically flirting with a blind man.
Netizen C: Please, just pet it. I'm begging you.
Netizen D: Wait, what?! Where did this sheep get a long tail?!
Pet it? Lu Shi pondered.
It worked.
But... why did petting it turn it into a naked man with horns?!

Lu Shi had seen all kinds of bizarre things: a bull-headed centaur who killed people for not working overtime, a bicycle that wouldn't stop until it had finished telling a comedy routine, a husky that could solve advanced calculus, and more. So he remained perfectly calm. "So you're the little black lamb with red horns I picked up?"
The man nodded obediently. "I can be, or I can not be. It's up to you."
Lu Shi said, "Then you should leave. I'm going to die soon, and you look like you'd eat a lot. I can't afford to feed you."
The man bent close, showing his true face. "Then, would you like to make a contract with me?"
His voice was bewitching as his fingers traced Lu Shi's chest. "I'll cure your illness, and you'll help me get my body back..."
Hatred welled up in Lu Shi's eyes.
So Lu Shi made a contract with the man. He would help him get his body back, and the man would serve him and suppress his pain. The only odd thing was how they went about it.
Lu Shi tugged at the soft tentacles on his body. "Are you this clingy even when you're human?"
Lu Shi sensed something was off, so he opened that same thread and asked the ever-helpful netizens again.
Lu Shi: The man I picked up keeps clinging to me, and I touched him, but why does he keep making a noise when I do?
Netizen A: We told you, you and the cat... Wait, what did you pick up?
Netizen E: Elaborate on the noise.
Netizen F: First of all, I'm a good person. He likes you. Secondly, can you tell me where you found him?
He likes me? Lu Shi pondered.

The former chief combat officer, "Nightwalker," returned to the front lines, now with a handsome long-haired man at his side who never left him. Their relationship seemed unusual, and the news instantly became the bureau's second-biggest topic of conversation.
But soon, nobody had time to care about that, because:
Some people disappeared from the bureau, and others appeared. Some paid for their mistakes, while others were finally cleared of wrongdoing.

Monsters were growing more numerous by the day, people were gripped by fear, and the decisive battle was imminent.
Lu Shi told the man frankly, "Those are your people. I may love you, but you can still fight for them. Then I'll kill you with my own hands."
For the first time, the man lost his temper. "You are my only place in this world, you fool! Have you really forgotten that much?"
Lu Shi froze. Memories began to surface from the depths of his mind.
