Ryan is an outstanding Hydra employee with a rebellious streak. When his childhood friend Bruce takes him to watch the bats, Ryan is working for Hydra. When Bruce travels around and occasionally writes to him, Ryan keeps working for Hydra while hoping his childhood friend won't die out there. By the time Batman's Robin has reached its fourth iteration, Ryan has worked his way into Hydra's middle management on the strength of his twenty years of experience.
But after enduring day after day of exploitation by his stupid boss and one insane decision after another to pick fights with superheroes, Ryan decides it's time to rebel.
He prepares three secret identities for the job:
1. A timid rich man who secretly sits high in the Court of Owls
2. Omega, a supervillain raised by Hydra
3. An utterly ordinary junior SHIELD agent who is actually a double agent
Before he can put his plan into action, a strange artificial intelligence comes knocking.
The AI, which calls itself Thursday, says, "Mr. Morad, you wouldn't want anyone finding out that in your previous life you were a supervillain who ruled the world, would you?"
Ryan: ...Huh?
"Lord Omega," it says ominously, "you wouldn't want your childhood friend to find out you erased his memories and twisted his mind, would you?"
Ryan is stunned. "Bruce?!"
The person who may or may not be an AI flies into a rage. "Your other childhood friend! I knew you never cared about Tony Stark!"
Once, Lex Luthor had a globally televised debate with Superman.
Even he had come to believe, by the end, that the god among men could bring hope. But when he closed his eyes and waited for Superman to save him once again, all he saw was a cape pierced by a Kryptonite spike.
Humanity still chose destruction.
That day, under the Joker's scheme, the Knight fell to a mob.
Ryan killed the Joker and descended into madness. His dear friend's ideals were trampled into the dust alongside the bones, and Ryan never turned back.
Later...
All three secret identities were exposed. Looking at Mr. Rogers, who was clearly furious with him, Ryan decided it was about time to make a run for it.
A blinding red light flared in his way, accompanied by a surge of magic.
A familiar-looking man floated in midair, silver-white liquid spreading over his body. His blue eyes blazed with fury in the sunlight.
"Long time no see, you little punk." Anthony gave him a cold smile. "Here's the thing: I'm going to punch that pretty face of yours twice. Cap and I are reminding you not to mess with other people's memories and minds."
* A heavily altered Dark Knight, a heavily altered Civil War, everything has been changed. In one Dark Knight timeline, Bruce's friend became Omega.
* In his previous life, he had Black Shield on one side and White Iron Man on the other. In this life, he's getting beaten up by the Shield-Iron Man duo. (Batman and Superman died early and got away with it.jpg.)
* Everyone except the male lead is in a platonic relationship. The male lead's pairing is undecided.
