The Unruly Maid

In the usual household-intrigue novels, there are always maids who try to climb the social ladder and become concubines, hoping to rise in status.

They're either seductive or foolish, wildly ambitious or sharp-tongued and mean.

But without exception, they all meet miserable ends.

A servant, it seems, can only ever be an obedient servant.

Wanting to become a concubine? Ha, that's called forgetting your place.

But...

Cai Jin was a low-ranking servant born to servants in the household, yet she wanted to change her station in life.

She was used to having everything handed to her in her previous life.

Why should she learn to serve others and do hard labor?

Why couldn't she be the one in charge?

From humble maid to Concubine Zheng, then to Madam Zheng, honored with an imperial title, Cai Jin keeps making waves.

She has chosen the path that everyone else considers the most improper.

[Inspired by girls born into servant families. I wanted to explore a path besides buying one's freedom. This is a household-intrigue story about a little maid striving to climb the ranks, become a concubine, and secure a bright future.]

Please don't blame the heroine. She just wants to avoid hard work, doesn't want to serve people, and wants to live in comfort.

You can blame the author. My heart is 24-karat gold and unbreakable (but please don't be too mean, boohoohoo /(ㄒoㄒ)/~)
