Saving the World by Upcycling Junk

When they woke up, the first thing people saw was a system pop-up, like something straight out of a movie.

[Status confirmed. Connected.]

[Welcome to the apocalypse.]

Faced with this strange phenomenon, Ni Yunhan and her friend looked at each other in bewilderment.

They tried to kill zombies, but instead of dying, they were betrayed by one of their own. As it happened, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise...

[Congratulations, Ni Yunhan! You have obtained the ability “Add One Character.”]

[Description: Hold an item and say the ability's name. One character will be added to the item's name.]

What the heck?

But with hordes of zombies roaming outside, she had no choice but to give it a shot. She grabbed the nearest object and said, “Add One Character.”

[Instant noodles -> instant noodle crumbs.]

[Description: The noodles are thoroughly coated in sauce, adding a new texture and flavor.]

Ni Yunhan: Thanks so much. Really!

[Iron rod -> iron rod flower.]

[Description: Water regularly, or it will wilt~]

Ni Yunhan: ? You add the word “flower,” and now you think you're a flower?

And then new species even started appearing...

Strange and bizarre things that challenged all reason.

~

Everyone knew that supernatural abilities were essential for fighting and staying alive in the apocalypse. The stronger you were, the higher your status, and new bases sprang up everywhere.

Bases fought tooth and nail over resources, while survivors were kept busy completing missions assigned by the System.

But rumors spread that a bunch of weirdos had gathered at A University in City A, and that the base leader in particular sent people out every day to bring back piles of junk.

People called them a bunch of hoarding freaks.

The survivors laughed: Ha! Plenty of people go crazy in the apocalypse, but this is the first time I've seen anyone go crazy enough to collect junk.

~

One disaster after another kept shrinking the space survivors had to live in, leaving them constantly on the move just to stay alive.

Then suddenly, one base rose up with unstoppable momentum, rocketing to the top and attracting everyone's attention.

Could everyone upgrade their abilities?

Could they grow their own food and never worry about meals?

Did they have excellent weapons and a full set of equipment?

It was enough to make anyone drool and wish they could join.

*The focus is on building a career, with little romance.
