A sick father, a domineering mother, and He Shu, left shattered (bottom) x a broken home, absent parents, and Jiang Can, who lives under a weight of repression (top)
Sound-recording specialist x media creative director
He Shu and Jiang Can met and fell in love at university. They were the perfect couple everyone envied, but their relationship ended in a sudden, abrupt breakup.
On the day they broke up, Jiang Can stood at the far end of a hospital corridor, staring from a distance at a shadow he didn't recognize.
He Shu said, “Let's break up. This isn't working. Really.”
When Jiang Can kept asking him to confirm it, He Shu didn't even look back. In the end, Jiang Can went abroad.
For two years after the breakup, He Shu drifted through life in a daze. Later, he became a sound-recording specialist.
Six years after the breakup, after thousands of days and nights, He Shu thought he would never cross paths with Jiang Can again. But they met once more during a discussion about a joint project, just after Jiang Can had returned to the country.
At their reunion, He Shu's thoughts were a mess and his body was out of his control. He was ready to run away completely. Just before he fled, he happened to hear the conversation at the table.
Someone noticed the strange atmosphere between them and asked curiously, “You two know each other?”
Jiang Can answered in a detached tone, “We're nothing to each other.”
It wasn't long before the same man who had insisted they were nothing to each other at the dinner table was holding He Shu's face in a hotel, eyes red, and saying, “I came here for you.”
He Shu didn't give him the answer he wanted.
For a long time afterward, Jiang Can didn't expect him to give any answer at all.
Until, in the icy snow of a foreign country, the two of them huddled together in a sled and gazed up at the mountaintop. He Shu leaned against his shoulder and said through unstoppable tears, “I really do love you so much...”
A few reading tips:
1. The full story is already written. Three updates a week, at 9:30 p.m. Little skits whenever inspiration strikes.
2. The story opens with their reunion and uses flashbacks.
3. This isn't a sweet romance. There are tender moments and heartbreak, but it leans angsty.
4. Neither of them made any fundamental mistakes; in fact, neither was at fault. So you can probably guess that the reason they broke up is very, very clichéd...
5. It's not very long. There's a little more content about getting back together, but not many more chapters. Roughly half and half. The sections will be labeled [Before the breakup] or [Getting back together]. Chapters bridging the two sections may be missing a closing bracket, like [Before the breakup or [Getting back together. Feel free to read whichever parts interest you, or wait until it's complete and read in chronological order.
