The Unlikely Rise of a Lowly Servant

[Since you're here, why not hit the favorite button?]

The working stiff Shi Song had devoured countless books as a student, and stayed hooked on novels even after starting work.

Then one day, after staying up all night reading a novel, he died suddenly.

Well, not quite.

He transmigrated into a book, as Fu Gui'er, a servant in the household of the male lead, Bai Qiuxing. The poor guy didn't even survive the first three chapters.

Shi Song was furious: Couldn't I have transmigrated straight into the male lead, Bai Qiuxing? I would've even settled for the second male lead or some random male character!

He thought he had it pretty rough.

Other people got a System when they transmigrated into a book, but he got nothing.

Other people at least transmigrated into characters with names, but his character wasn't even mentioned by name in the original novel.

His luck was pretty bad, too.

He'd come here to ship a couple, but nearly ended up as a genuine cannon-fodder character himself.

Then he decided to break up the canon couple and find Bai Qiuxing a better match, only to get himself tangled up in it instead.

By "fortune-telling," he managed to become a guest advisor at the Bai residence.

His luck was still terrible.

He secretly leaked the plot to Bai Qiuxing, sending events further and further off course from the original novel until the story was changed beyond recognition.

He'd thought becoming a guest advisor was the peak of his life.

He had no idea this cannon-fodder character had another secret identity...

Question (holding out a microphone): Half-Immortal Shi, any advice for our readers?

Shi Song (angrily yanking away the microphone): Don't stay up all night reading novels! Especially not serialized novels! And don't go breaking up canon couples on a whim!

Bai Qiuxing (happening to pass by): Do you have a problem with me?

Shi Song: ...This humble one wouldn't dare.

Bai Qiuxing: I'll give you one chance to answer again.

Shi Song: Readers with secret identities should keep them well hidden...
