[The premise won't change, but the blurb may be adjusted at any time]
0 years old.
You died, then came back to life as a little capitalist brat.
1 year old.
Your vision has developed enough for you to start observing the people around you and the place where you were born.
The couple holding you are about the same age and seem very much in love. Their house looks expensive, but there are no specimens of traitors hanging on the walls, no enemies' heads in the entryway, and the shelves hold porcelain, oil paintings, and family photos instead of weird human organs.
Good. At least the couple aren't collectors of human body parts.
2 years old.
A young boy keeps showing up around you, trying to play with you. Fed up, you start pretending to be asleep every time he appears.
3 years old.
The place where you were born in this life is so different from the one in your last life that you feel no attachment to your new identity or family. You have no interest in or reaction to anything around you.
The couple are very worried and take you to the hospital.
You hate white coats and the smell of disinfectant, and just want to leave, so you start screaming the moment you enter the doctor's office.
The doctor thinks you have congenital autism.
Your mother covers her mouth and cries. You feel a little sorry.
4 years old.
Your autism makes your parents devote a great deal of time and energy to you. Even the little boy starts trying to look after you.
Being cared for by a child is a little embarrassing, so you say more in this one year than you did in the previous three combined.
They are very relieved.
The boy has had what could be called a difficult year, so your parents decide to take him to the movies by himself.
Only the boy comes back.
You blink, walk into the living room, lift the blanket draped over him, and throw yourself into his arms.
At last, the boy bursts into tears.
14 years old.
The person who murdered your parents has been released from prison.
Fourteen is just the right age. You are independent enough to persuade Mr. Butler to let you go out alone, but still too young to bear full criminal responsibility. And with Wayne Enterprises' excellent legal team, your chances of getting away scot-free are high.
You have scouted the place and prepared a full outfit and suitable weapons. The moment the murderer walks out of the prison gates, you are there.
You run into your brother.
You stare at the guns in each other's hands, then head home together as if nothing happened.
It seems to hit your brother hard. That night, he tells you there are many things he can't figure out, and decides to embark on a round-the-world trip with no set return date.
You think that's for the best, so you nod and watch him leave Gotham. You promise not to deal with the murderer before he comes back.
21 years old.
Your brother has returned. You are thrilled, ready to hand Wayne Enterprises back to him and start enjoying your decadent life as a rich man.
Your brother refuses to let you dump the responsibility on him and explains his ideals to you.
That day, Marlene said to Bruce, "I understand you, Bruce, but fear doesn't work like that. You're holding back too much."
Restraint can't inspire fear. You can't scare the truly wicked.
Only erratic, limitless, reckless revenge that leaves both sides destroyed can truly make them tremble.
You know this all too well.
Your brother is horrified and permanently locks you out of the Batcomputer.
Content warnings: The main story is told in third person, and the protagonist is an adult from the start.
The female lead is a native of Meteor City and a member of the Phantom Troupe. Don't expect her to have strong morals.
Unless something unexpected happens, this should be a Batgirl story.
I'm trying to write a faithful, logically coherent story in the style of the original work, but my skills are limited, so the results aren't guaranteed.
My own timeline. I'll use canon where it suits me, with a mountain of my own headcanons.
OOC warning.
