Here's a preview of my upcoming novel, "I'll Knock!"
The blurb is at the very bottom. Please add it to your collections, loves!
Fang Wenli is the second son of the Vice Minister of Rites, a pillar among spoiled young aristocrats, until he discovers he's the cannon-fodder villain in a storybook, doomed to lose his family and die.
Fang Wenli: ...?
It must be because he hasn't been bad enough!
So Fang Wenli decides to go further and further, seeking out the storybook's most thoroughly wicked villains, the ones who live in glory to the end, to compare notes.
-
At the Imperial Academy, the erudite but eccentric top scholar takes up a ruler and deliberately calls on the utterly unlearned Fang Wenli to answer a question.
Fang Wenli eyes him sidelong. "Instead of wasting your time on me, sir, you should read up on the laws and etiquette. Rigging the imperial exams can get you executed."
The top scholar: ?
At the imperial hunting grounds, the battle-hardened but ruthless young general rides up on a tall horse and blocks Fang Wenli's way, making fun of his abysmal riding and archery skills.
Fang Wenli scoffs. "While you're training, General, you should pay more attention to your deputy. If he betrays you and breaks your leg, you'll have a hard time returning to the battlefield."
The young general: ...
At the Mid-Autumn banquet, the sickly but ruthless Third Prince speaks in veiled terms, mocking Fang Wenli for playing the fool and being ignorant and ill-mannered.
Fang Wenli gives a cold laugh. "Of course I'm not as capable as Your Highness. You're already plotting to ride the Crown Prince like a horse someday."
The Third Prince: !
-
Their practice sessions go quite smoothly, but the looks the three men give Fang Wenli seem to grow increasingly strange.
The top scholar: "I've searched through all the laws and etiquette, and they all tell me I must hold on to you."
The young general: "I practice my riding and archery every day, just so that one day I can catch up to you."
The Third Prince: "I'm nowhere near as capable as you. Now I'm perfectly willing to let you ride me like a horse."
Fang Wenli: ...?
But somehow, that still isn't enough.
Until one day, at a palace banquet, the three of them see the famous young genius of the capital pull Fang Wenli into a corner. Wearing a flawless smile, he coaxes him gently: "If you want to become the greatest villain in the world, the most important thing is to first do four things with me."
"Secretly carry on an affair."
-
Later, Fang Wenli is held with both feet off the ground, pinned against a door.
Outside, the great villains are calling for the door, each refusing to yield to the others.
The man before him chuckles, tilts his head up, and rubs the tip of his nose against Fang Wenli's. "My villain, I've waited so long. When are you finally going to bully me?"
A silly bottom who seems harmless but is secretly ruthless x a scheming top who's even more black-hearted
-
1. A harem-like love triangle, but it's one-on-one, and this isn't a fast-paced wish-fulfillment story.
2. The protagonist is a fool, and the author is a sucker for this stuff. If that's not your thing, please steer clear.
3. The dynasty is fictional. Everything is set up to serve the plot, so please don't associate it with any real history.
4. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading, loves!
Upcoming novel: "I'll Knock!"
Lan Xu first met Xiang Zhiyu at a music festival performance.
That day, the band's drummer had an emergency and asked a friend he knew to fill in onstage.
After the show, Xiang Zhiyu stared silently for a long time at the bass in Lan Xu's hands, then asked, "Did you even play just now?"
Lan Xu: ?
A month later, the band's original drummer quit for personal reasons, and Xiang Zhiyu joined as the new drummer.
After their first rehearsal, he received a warm greeting from his bandmate:
"Did you even hit anything just now?"
The band's bass player, who held a grudge, spoke coolly, looking utterly nonchalant.
Xiang Zhiyu: ...
If your ears are bad, go get them treated!
-
Later, at the after-party following the final show of the band's last tour, Xiang Zhiyu pulled Lan Xu into an empty corner.
In the darkness, Lan Xu could hear Xiang Zhiyu deliberately panting.
The voices of their bandmates drifted over from the banquet hall a few steps away. Someone pressed a light kiss to the tip of Lan Xu's ear, then Xiang Zhiyu's amused voice sounded beside him.
"Can you hear it now?"
Theme: When you see goodness, act as if you can't catch up; when you see evil, be as wary as if testing boiling water
