[Government Affairs Bureau POV]
The Government Affairs Bureau was always competing with the Chaldea next door to recruit top talents. This time, after carefully timing their invitation, they finally managed to bring one aboard. They hadn't even had time to get the newcomer settled, but the fact that they'd beaten Chaldea already had the Bureau feeling triumphant.
Just then, a new version of the game used to recruit Sages was about to launch in the present world, and an employee of the Government Affairs Bureau went there.
But the moment they opened the world's barrier, the employee sensed an extremely powerful yet unstable spiritual energy, much like that of a top talent in childhood.
No employee of the Bureau could resist this temptation. Following the source of the spiritual energy, they found only a little black cat fast asleep. Still, the Bureau was so eager to raise a top talent of its own that they grabbed the little black cat without a second thought and took it away.
And so, when the little black cat Tsukimiya Hana woke up, she had become the Government Affairs Bureau's newest Sage.
[Honmaru POV]
The previous Sage had worked at the Government Affairs Bureau for ten years, earned enough to retire, then quit and went back to her hometown to get married. The Honmaru's fate became uncertain.
The swords who had arrived at this Honmaru secondhand were fairly calm about it. Rantou Toushirou, for example.
But several of the less experienced swords had spent days crying. On the day the Sage left, Tomoegata Naginata had even jumped into the sword dissolution pool on his own, terrifying the short swords.
The swords were preparing themselves to be taken away for recycling when they received good news: a new Sage was coming to inspect the Honmaru!
However, on the day Kitsunezuka announced the inspection, the swords dressed up and waited to welcome the Sage. They waited from morning until night, but no one came. They found only an unfamiliar little black cat in a corner.
They thought the Sage had stood them up, but Kitsunezuka said the Sage was very pleased with the inspection results and would soon take over the Honmaru.
Huh? So the Sage that day was actually a cat!
