“Born to Be a Phoenix” opens in January. It’s a marriage-first, love-later story. Please add it to your favorites!
Xie Wanjun was entrusted with a task: impersonate someone else and trick Shi Sui, the second son of the Marquis Xuanping’s household, into marriage.
Shi Sui was arrogant, and worse, his first impression of her was terrible.
But for the one thousand taels her employer had promised, Wanjun could only steel herself and keep approaching him, though she always seemed to interrupt his work at the worst possible moments.
At last, the hot-tempered Shi Sui couldn’t hold back and shouted, “Why are you everywhere I go?”
Wanjun gazed at him with her limpid, almond-shaped eyes, tears glistening on the verge of falling. “Why are you shouting so loudly?”
Later, time and again, those sparkling eyes made him soften, give in, and fall deeper.
The cold and haughty Second Young Master Shi was tender and attentive to the extreme when it came to winning a woman’s heart.
Wanjun couldn’t resist spending a night with him.
After one night of passion, she took the money her employer had given her and fled.
*
Shi Sui came from a prestigious family, was handsome, and had been made a marquis while still young. The line of women hoping to marry him stretched from Jinling to the northern frontier.
So he never imagined someone would approach him, seduce him, and make him fall, all just to sell his love for money.
Years later, Shi Sui still remembered that cold, bitter spring night, when snow and moonlight shone together and her red skirt pooled on the floor.
The brazier in the room had nearly gone out, yet as he held her close, his blood roared through him, and their heartbeats chimed together in the silence of the night.
After that night, she vanished without a trace.
When they met again years later, she already had a family and was a mother.
The little tyke stared at him curiously with huge eyes exactly like hers.
Shi Sui sneered. “You used the money you conned out of me to raise a child with another man? Fine. Very fine.”
He confined her to the marquis’s residence and reenacted the pleasures of that night with her, night after night.
*
Wanjun thought Shi Sui hated her.
But one day, as she passed a corner in the corridor, she happened to hear him whispering to her daughter: “Little one, how about letting me be your father?”
#In the end, I only hated that she didn’t want me#
1v1, both leads are virgins, happy ending, heroine runs away while pregnant.
The hero is pure-hearted early on and turns dark later, going mad with love and forcing her into a possessive relationship.
Here’s an upcoming story, the next one I’ll write: “The Foolish Beauty Was Born to Be a Phoenix.”
[Cold, ruthless prince vying for the throne × dazed, spoiled, foolish beauty]
The Third Prince of the dynasty, Zong Duo, was fiercely ambitious and had his eyes fixed on the throne.
To become the heir apparent, he studied both civil and military arts, recruited worthy men, and worked tirelessly, seizing every opportunity to fight for the throne.
Zong Duo agreed to marry Shi Baoying only because his adviser predicted she was born with the fate of a phoenix and would help him take up residence in the Eastern Palace.
Only after their wedding did he discover that she was useless apart from her pretty face.
She was absentminded, slow, and lazy, and had no idea what her role as his lucky charm was supposed to be. She meddled in every part of his life:
Today, she made soup and forced him to drink it.
Tomorrow, she would drag him out of a meeting and insist he share her bed.
The day after that, she would demand he accompany her to the Western Garden to see the plum blossoms.
Zong Duo was driven to distraction.
Zong Duo secretly swore that once he became emperor, he would kick her out.
He never expected that day to come early. His adviser discovered he had made a mistake: someone else had been born with the fate of a phoenix.
Zong Duo, who had always acted decisively, held the divorce agreement he had prepared and hesitated for the first time. Actually, keeping this pleasure-loving woman around wasn’t such a bad idea.
After all, who else could spoil her like he did?
But before long, he received a divorce agreement from Baoying.
Her face was full of relief, and she couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from lifting. “Your Highness, I don’t have the fate of a phoenix, so I won’t get in the way of your great ambition to ascend the throne.”
Only then did Zong Duo realize that she had been putting up with him all along, too.
*
In Baoying’s eyes, Zong Duo was dull, boring, and entirely self-serving.
Still, she dutifully fulfilled her role as a wife. It was bad enough that he didn’t appreciate it. Then one night, she woke to find the pillow beside her cold.
A single light glowed outside her room, and she heard him murmuring to someone in the corridor: “Shi is naturally slow-witted and of little use. When I ascend the throne, I’ll make her a concubine and keep her around.”
Hmph! Who wanted to be his concubine?
After their divorce, Baoying planned to elope with her childhood sweetheart, her cousin. Suddenly, her persistent ex-husband caught up with her. He stared at her new love with a menacing look and gritted out a smile. “When you’ve had enough fun, Ying’er, come back. The position of Crown Princess is waiting for you.”
It seemed he regretted it...
But Baoying didn’t want to turn back.
#An unloved, icy workaholic and his carefree little ray of sunshine#
#A man who can’t stand fools falls for a foolish beauty after marrying her#
[Reading notes and content warnings]
1. The hero is ambitious by nature. He won’t start out believing in lifelong devotion to one woman, and he will consider marrying another woman for political advantage. That is only a thought! He is devoted to the heroine in both body and heart, and will not have a romance with another woman.
2. The heroine is a sweet, adorable beauty with a dull sensitivity. She really does have a childhood sweetheart of a cousin, and she really does find love again. The hero is tight-lipped and faces a grueling pursuit of his wife after she leaves.
3. Marriage first, love later, with the hero pursuing his wife after she leaves. Happy ending.
Theme: True love is priceless
It's good, it's good to read, I haven't finished a book in a long time, the first and middle stages are very good, the tension is interesting, the writing style is humorous, but in the later period, I felt that the character of the book was a bit off (after giving birth to a baby, my own charm has weakened a bit). What I particularly want to praise is that the writing method of taking things by force does not abuse the female protagonist. The male protagonist is not always in the upper position. There are fluctuations in the status of the two, there is competition, and he is not a crazy abuser of the female protagonist. It belittles and tramples on the heroine. It appeals to me, a reader who doesn't like the heroine being forced to suffer too much and too much. That's why I keep reading. It's really good. It's great. I hope the next one can be more comprehensive. Ps: I personally feel that this article is quite special among seduction articles. It is not a charming and alluring character who is all about means (I also like it). The female protagonist is very real, and the male protagonist also has victories and defeats. The character design is grounded and makes people feel bright.
Looks good, I like it! Many of the points my wife wrote touched my heart [make me healthy] sprinkle flowers [spread flowers] and wait for the next one 💪
Super affectionate male protagonist! Coupled with a smart and kind-hearted heroine, coupled with the author's wonderful writing, the plot turns over and over again. It is really a good work that I highly recommend!!!
I finished reading it. The early stage was very interesting and the ambiguous relationship between the male and female protagonists was very attractive. However, after the reunion and the child, the rhythm was weird and unappealing (I didn't mean to say anything bad about Miaomiao), so I just skipped it and finished it. I hope the author's next book will be better!!
Baozi, where is your new article? Serve it quickly 😆
The story of giving birth to a daughter is very cute and smooth.
It's great, the two little daughters [loving eyes] and their family are happy and happy! 🤩
It's very interesting, with a very novel theme. It's so beautiful. It's not easy for the male and female protagonists to go all the way. The ending is full of flowers 🎆🎆🎆
Applause for this good article, thank you for accompanying me this summer, and look forward to your next article 🌈
Looks good! The young couple loved it so much!
