Back to a Quiet Life in the Mountains

After resigning, top student Jiang Yun Zhao decided to leave the big city and return to the mountains of his hometown.

In the mountain village, he had an old house, a few acres of wasteland, and warmhearted neighbors.

Jiang Yun Zhao raised chickens and ducks and cleared land for crops. Life was hard, but he could escape the noise and stress and finally get a good night's sleep.

His friends envied him for starting retirement early, but he saw how poor and struggling the villagers were.

With poor transportation and little chance of getting out of the mountains, young people left their hometown one after another, while elderly villagers shuffled along winding dirt roads.

What could he do? Jiang Yun Zhao, who had been lying flat, sprang back into action and got the villagers fired up too.

The horn of a small truck full of goods echoed along the mountain roads, making it easier for the locals to shop. Delivery trucks loaded with mountain specialties headed beyond the hills and into homes across the country.

Shen Gongqiu was a university student who had been helped by the villagers to make his way out of the mountains, and after graduating, he returned to his hometown without hesitation.

He wanted to use what he'd learned to revitalize his hometown, but he suffered setback after setback. Just as he was hesitating, a refined young man who said he was returning to the countryside to "retire" moved into the old house next door.

The young man was resolute and fearless, daring to dream and act. Little by little, he dispelled Shen Gongqiu's confusion and joined him on the path to revitalizing the countryside.

The roads were paved, a school was built, young faces returned, tourists came to the mountains, and the villagers grew prosperous. The once-quiet mountain village was filled with vitality.

In the mountains around them lay the most grounded kind of happiness, along with the young people's most burning ideals.

A slow-paced slice-of-life story about rural revitalization.
