People say that although the Princess of Liang is a princess of a fallen kingdom, her beauty rivals Chang'e on the moon, making her a perfect match for the King of Wei.

Everyone assumes they will honor their childhood betrothal, play music in harmony, and live in loving devotion. But no one expects that, in the great hall, the beautiful Princess of Liang will be publicly rejected.

After that, no one in the capital sees her again.

Not until three years later, when she enters the imperial city alone in a heavy snowfall.

The person who opens the gate for her is the Wei imperial preceptor; the person who holds an umbrella over her is the newly appointed Minister of Justice.

The King of Wei sits upon the throne, while the officials before him all turn their backs on him. Facing the woman outside the great hall, they bow and kneel.

When Hua Le finishes handling state affairs, a eunuch carrying the selection plaques hurriedly presents them to her.

"I'm tired. I'll choose a plaque tomorrow."

"But the King of Wei..."

Hua Le has already left as he speaks.

In her sleep, she feels an arm wrap around her waist.

When she opens her eyes, she meets Wei Xiao's lustful gaze. "I'm tired."

Wei Xiao kisses her hair. "Just once."

Moonlight spills outside the window, and the fish in the lake leap out of the water one after another. Ripples spread across the lake. Sleepiness descends, but pain envelops her whole body.

Hua Le curses him under her breath.

The man before her only laughs, winding around her again like a vine.
