Just as Bai Yu came to after a car accident, he was transported to Golden City, a city in an apocalyptic world.
"The System has prepared a cozy starter pack for you. Matching in progress... 1%... 20%... Congratulations, Host. You have awakened the A-rank ability 'Metamorphosis.'"
A dim slave warehouse, a woman imprisoned alongside him, the stench of decay in the air... Everything here reeked of danger.
009: Current side mission one: destroy Golden City's underground auction house. Side mission two: rescue the ability user Song Jiang.
Bai Yu: Straight to the hard stuff, huh? Is there no beginner mission?
009: This is your beginner mission.
Bai Yu had always known that he was unlucky. Just as he'd saved enough for retirement and was ready to call it quits, he got into a car accident. He didn't die, but was dragged into the apocalypse instead. And the ability the System gave him wasn't all that impressive, either.
But reality always found a way to make things even worse...
"Congratulations, Host. You have awakened the SSS-rank innate ability 'Word of Power.' As this ability is exceptionally powerful, every use will bring an unknown side effect. The System has no authorization to predict these side effects. Please use with caution."
He was at death's door. Facing a powerful enemy, he couldn't worry about the side effects the System had warned him of, and hurriedly used his new ability.
Only after the crisis had finally been resolved did he notice something wrong with his body, through the haze of overwhelming exhaustion.
009: A friendly System reminder: The ability side effect, 'heat,' has taken effect. It will last six hours. Host, please take care not to ** and harm yourself.
The skin at the back of his neck grew slightly warm. Bai Yu tried desperately to stay alert. "What... is that..."
He'd meant to ask the System what the two censored words meant, but before he could, an irresistible reaction completely overwhelmed him.
The mission in Golden City wasn't especially difficult for the Number One Tian Squad, but because of the person who might appear according to a prophecy, the base commander sent Xie Chi along as well.
The mission was completed with some difficulty, but more or less successfully. On the way back, Xie Chi, bored in the passenger seat, suddenly caught a strangely alluring scent...
