[Detective Conan] Does Kongming of the District Believe in Myths Too?

[A note before you start: This is a short, self-indulgent story born from burnout while writing a serious, long-form novel. The writing inspiration seems to be the daemon of excess. On Scotland's first mission after receiving his codename,

he runs into the notorious distillery veteran Rusty Nail

and her workplace sexual harassment.

With no other choice,

he accompanies this woman of unspeakable reputation

to her unsafe safe house in the dead of night.

Back when he was a low-ranking nobody in the organization,

he'd heard that Rusty Nail was

the boss's mistress, the second-in-command's mistress, Gin's mistress, and, most outrageous of all, Vermouth's mistress. In short, she seemed like a consummate professional mistress who could seduce anyone.

Rusty Nail slowly exhales a ring of smoke, then asks with an exaggerated laugh,

"Do you believe in myths?"

"Does ▇▇▇▇ believe in myths, too?"

Scotland isn't the one who can answer.

She doesn't seem to expect an answer, either.

Not until the dead return to the graves where they belong.

But all along the way,

has this cocktail-loving woman, who's practically dead on her feet,

been asking everyone questions without listening to their answers,

a little too many people

Between [real liquor] and [fake liquor], the heroine is a bottle of [poisonous liquor].

She'll have to go through plenty of [wrong choices] before finding the final [right answer].

The heroine is toxic, and so is the story. Here's a song for the occasion: "Hello, You Toxic Thing."
