Love by force / Powerful man finally bows his head / Uncle steals his nephew's girlfriend
Gentle yet resilient journalist × calculating man in power
At seventeen, on a night of the first snowfall, Bo Xue met Gu Yanzhou at the grand and imposing Gu Garden.
That day, Bo Xue went with her parents to attend a banquet at the Gu family home. In the middle of it, she wandered off and accidentally entered an unfamiliar room. Behind an antique gauze screen, she could just make out the strong, youthful figure of a man.
Thinking he was Gu Jingci, the childhood friend she had grown up with, Bo Xue paused and curiously studied him for a few moments.
It was only when he pulled the screen aside and poked his head out to look at her that she came to her senses and fled in a panic.
In her confusion, she never saw his face clearly, nor did she notice the amused, assessing gaze following her.
-
Two years later, Bo Xue encountered Gu Yanzhou again at a lavish banquet attended by the city's elite.
By then, he was a rising business tycoon in Shanghai, while Bo Xue had become his nephew Gu Jingci's girlfriend.
Amid the glittering gowns and lively clinking of glasses, Gu Jingci led her to Gu Yanzhou and introduced them. "Bo Xue, this is my uncle."
Bo Xue's eyes curved into a sweet smile. "Hello, Uncle Gu."
The man raised an eyebrow slightly and nodded to her with impeccable courtesy, his smile warm and composed. "A pleasure to meet you."
The three chatted amiably, and all seemed perfectly harmonious.
No one knew that in the depths of a dark, deserted corridor, Gu Yanzhou was steadily backing Bo Xue into a corner, leaving her nowhere to retreat.
His cool, faint fragrance drifted into her nose as he spoke in a low, bewitching voice: "Bo Xue, break up with him. Be with me instead."
Thinking he had gone mad, Bo Xue only left him with, "Please conduct yourself with propriety," before hurrying away in a panic.
-
Later, disaster struck the Bo family, and the once-glamorous Miss Bo fell into ruin overnight.
Gu Jingci was no longer as gentle and attentive toward her as before. He gradually lost patience and began to look elsewhere.
The day Bo Xue finally made up her mind to break up with Gu Jingci, she gritted her teeth and delivered a harsh ultimatum. Tears fell one after another, freezing at the corners of her eyes when the wind blew.
She wiped them away in a wretched daze, then turned and collided with a warm embrace.
Gu Yanzhou had appeared without her noticing. He lifted a hand to wipe away the tears beneath her eyes, drew her into his arms, and gently stroked her thin back with his palm.
"I told you this day would come sooner or later."
"Do you believe me now?"
"Bonus scene"
In early spring, sunlight slanted down over the lush greenery of Gu Garden. Two shadows overlapped on the wall.
Bo Xue looked warily at the person opposite her and snapped, "Mr. Gu, please conduct yourself with propriety."
Gu Yanzhou smiled, deliberately reminding her, "A few years ago, in one of the guest rooms at Gu Garden, wasn't there a little girl hiding behind a screen to watch me change?"
"Or has our Xiao Xue's memory become so poor that she's forgotten already?"
Vague memories surfaced, and Bo Xue's face instantly turned red.
"I... I thought that person was Gu Jingci."
"I'm sorry, Uncle Gu. I was out of line."
He was still smiling. "I don't mind."
"Xiao Xue, why not go a little further out of line?"

The blurb for my next book, Springtime Wedding News, is below. Please add it to your reading list, thank you!
Marriage first, love later | Reunion after years apart | A secret crush comes true
Cool, somewhat oblivious fashion designer × mature, levelheaded elite lawyer
Nan Zhao's feelings for Shen Huaiyi began as an unrequited crush in their school days, one that came to nothing.
They had very little contact during their three years of high school.
Their closest interactions were when they sat in front of and behind each other, correcting and discussing mistakes on their exams, or when she read out his name while handing out or collecting assignments and he answered her.
On graduation day, Nan Zhao did a good job of hiding her feelings.
While he was surrounded by everyone, posing for a group photo, she quietly slipped away, put the letter she had secretly written into his desk, and wished him a bright future.
As the camera captured the moment, their high school years quietly came to an end. They never crossed paths again.
-
Years later, after graduating from university, Nan Zhao returned to her hometown to start a business. She became an independent designer creating original collections for her own brand, but a rival in the industry framed her, accidentally drawing her into a lawsuit.
With her studio caught up in a public controversy and her overwhelmed by the crisis, she encountered Shen Huaiyi once more.
He volunteered to represent her as her lawyer, and at the same time handed her a prenuptial agreement.
Nan Zhao refused rationally. "A marriage without any emotional foundation is far too reckless. I'm sorry, Mr. Shen, but I can't accept your proposal."
Shen Huaiyi, however, said, "Actually, marriage is like a lawsuit. What matters is finding an evenly matched partner and working together for a win-win outcome."
"Choose me, and I can help you avoid risks and reduce the cost of trial and error as much as possible."
"Nan Zhao, why not think it over?"
-
Nan Zhao thought their marriage was nothing more than a contract, and that his heart had never belonged to her.
It wasn't until one day, when she handed him divorce papers and calmly tried to end their marriage, that she said, "Sign them. I don't want to keep making the same mistake."
She turned to leave, but saw Shen Huaiyi take out an anonymous letter, yellowed and worn with age, and unfold it before her.
"Then do you know that I've been waiting for you for a long time?"
