As a Pillar, I’m Still at the Center of the Shura Field Today

When Dongyue Li was dragged by a relative into a virtual-reality game beta test, she never expected to die three times.

The game was called Blade of Reincarnation, an immersive experience of ghost stories set in the Taisho era, with an exceptionally attractive cast of characters.

On her fourth try, Dongyue Li finally matched with the protagonist's role as a swordsman.

But the supposedly hardcore demon-slaying game began veering wildly off course.

First to appear was Player 1, a pink-haired childhood friend with pale skin, who solemnly handed Dongyue Li a love letter.

And that wasn't all. Her coworkers, who had shared life and death with her, also joined the game one after another---

Player 2, a hot-tempered white-haired man, searched a vast ruin covered in wounds, all to retrieve the keepsake of her closest friend;

Player 3, a clear-eyed young man, followed close behind, calling her "big sister" in a sweet, soft voice, then turned around and solemnly declared, "I want to be with Big Sister forever."

Player 4, a cheerful, big-brotherly owl, didn't bother beating around the bush. He declared his feelings with an enthusiastic, direct approach and nearly made Dongyue Li's brain short-circuit.

Before Dongyue Li could process the chaotic situation, even the cold-faced Water Hashira, Tomioka, who had always kept her at arm's length, joined the fray as Player 5. Whenever he saw her chatting away with another player, he'd storm over with a dark look and pull her away without a word.

Dongyue Li: Looks like I'm caught in a battle for my affection.

Just as she was considering making a schedule to soothe each of the players in turn, one of the Upper Ranks of the Twelve Kizuki made a dazzling entrance.

One slash later, Dongyue Li died in a flash.

Dongyue Li: "..."

Dongyue Li was thoughtful. Afraid her players would lose it as a group when they found out she had died, she eagerly opened the Warring States-period expansion and ground out playtime to earn a resurrection charm.

In this run, she became the apprentice of a man with a flame-shaped mark on his forehead.

Her master placed great hopes in her. "Starting today, I'll teach you Sun Breathing."

But Dongyue Li's astonishing talent caught the eye of her master's twin brother.

He competed with his brother and made her an offer: "My Moon Breathing is a better fit for you than Sun Breathing."

Dongyue Li gripped her sword and fell into thought.

Well, would you look at that. Had she gone from a Taisho-era battle for her affection to a Warring States brothers' rivalry?

These are small-time troubles. No big deal.

Dongyue Li thought optimistically.

Just you wait! Once she's grinded enough time in the expansion, she'll return to the Taisho era, settle the score with Upper Rank One for that slash, and marry her sweetheart in grand style!

The days of love and career flourishing together are here!
