[Hoping to start this year]
Blurb:
1. Vivian, an illiterate country girl from the deep mountains, ends up at the bottom of her class and spends the entire summer trapped in tutoring hell.
Her cousin, who lives far away, feels sorry for her and thoughtfully sends her a game console to help her relax in her spare time. She says it’s for Vivian’s own good, and that it’s full of educational mini-games.
So Vivian happily starts up her Illiterate Simulator.
[You have no parents. You were born in a village, and a kind person has decided to sponsor your education.]
Mm-hmm.
[You make the first friend of your life.]
Mm-hmm!
[You adopt a puppy. Sometimes it’s lively and gentle. Other times, you say one bad thing about your friend’s friend, and it chases you down the street, biting you the whole way.]
Mm-hmm?
[You notice that your friend and your friend’s friend look at you with complicated expressions.]
Mm-hmm??
[The three of you enter a romantic relationship.]
Mm-hmm???
Wasn’t this supposed to be an educational mini-game?
2. When they realize there might be a little too much intimacy in the trio’s friendship, Bruce and Clark decide to sound out their kids.
Bruce: “What is Vivian to you?”
Damian frowns, confused. “She’s herself. What else could she be?”
Bruce tries another phrasing: “Do you feel the same way about Jon and Vivian?”
Damian: “No.”
Damian gives him a look of disgust. “Vivian’s an idiot.”
Bruce: “...”
Confirmed. Their relationship is completely innocent.
At the dinner table, Clark says, “Things really have changed. Boyfriends and girlfriends are supposed to get along harmoniously, but these days it’s increasingly turning into an owner-and-dog relationship.”
Jon says nothing and keeps eating.
Dad, your son is someone else’s dog.
When his son doesn’t deny it, Clark sighs in relief.
Confirmed. Their relationship is completely innocent.
3. When Vivian restarts the game console and returns to Metropolis, three years have passed in the game.
Seeing the tall figure beneath the night sky, she greets him enthusiastically.
“Hi, my love.”
“...Why did you change colors?”
The Lord’s son, wearing a white cape, watches her in shock as the red glow in his eyes fades and turns blue.
The trio: They riff and stir up trouble together, for better or worse.
1. An unintentional love triangle, with no competing for each other. The trio’s fortunes are intertwined as they riff and stir things up together. The story includes the Jon, Jason, Damian, and Tim families, the Lord Jon, the good-and-evil axis of the Damian and Tim families, time shenanigans, and the trio wandering through all kinds of parallel worlds.
2. There are already plenty of player stories. This one doesn’t follow a strong plot, which is my weak point anyway. It focuses on emotional growth with a little plot, and is neither a disaster-player story nor a full-dive game. It’s a regular single-player keyboard game.
3. Various factors mean the heroine doesn’t think like an ordinary child. Her illiteracy comes from having no contact with the outside world, not from being unintelligent.
