Its gate was plain, with the three characters "Xiaoyao Sect" casually brushed in ink across a wooden plank. Inside the courtyard stood a few thatched huts.
A burly man was chopping wood, while a graceful woman was cooking. Beside them, a man stoking the fire had reached into the pot to steal a bite, only for the woman to smack him hard on the head with her spatula.
Behind her came an old voice, brimming with delight: "My disciples, your master has cheated... Ahem, earned two bags of rice and a hind leg of beef today!"
Another man's sleepy voice followed. "Master, you woke me up..."
Chi Yun looked toward the sound and saw a man in white leaning against a tree. The wind stirred the wisps of hair on his forehead, revealing a red jade-inlaid headband. His sleepy eyes opened, and his entire being seemed pure and clear, untouched by worldly dust.
Innocent. Easy to fool.
System: The person you need to win over is him.
Chi Yun brimmed with confidence: This will be easy!
Chi Yun immediately joined the sect and began planning how to seduce the young sword cultivator.

To win his heart, first win him over.
That night, she invited Gu Ting into her room, pushed him down onto the bed, and said she wanted to teach him something new. He was to follow along.
She put her hand on his belt and pulled it loose. Gu Ting copied her movements, a little clumsily and slowly, then looked up and tentatively asked, "Like this?"
Just as they had begun to undress, demons suddenly invaded the sect.
The eldest senior brother split a demon in two with his woodcutting axe. The senior sister cooking dinner crushed a demon's head with her bare hands. The senior brother who'd been stealing food rode his spirit artifact through the air, firing wildly and laughing maniacally.
Gu Ting stood at the door with his sword in hand, beheading the demons who knelt before him and begged for mercy.
Noticing Chi Yun's gaze behind him, he walked toward her with the blood still dripping from his sword. As if nothing had happened, his face retained the same sleepy, innocent confusion as before. "Junior Sister, shall we continue...?"

Only later did Chi Yun learn that Gu Ting cultivated the Asura path, where killing was a means of salvation and a way to prove the Dao.
And the heart she was supposed to win was an Asura's heart, too.
