My Suona Can Summon Vengeful Spirits

Xi Ning is transported into the body of a young Taoist who disguises herself as a boy. Her temple never gets a single offering all year round, so she and her master make a living mainly by having him go out and play the suona.

Master Yao, the Great Immortal and suona player for weddings and funerals: My apprentice, you're all grown up. It's time you learned a trade to support your master. Playing the suona is good. You often get meat to eat...

Xi Ning, who hasn't tasted meat in ages: I'll learn!

Just after becoming the top suona player for weddings and funerals, Xi Ning plays at the wedding of a wealthy family in town for the first time, and attracts a wronged spirit.

The spirit haunts her dreams day and night, weeping and crying that it died unjustly.

Xi Ning wants to cry too: I'm a little suona player who can't even afford meat. There's really nothing I can do for you!

To get a good night's sleep, Xi Ning has no choice but to grit her teeth and investigate the case.

On her first trip down the mountain, she runs into the Ministry of Justice investigating a case. Once she's dragged into it, she can never escape.
