Chef God, Running a Restaurant in the Underworld [Gourmet]

On the day Shen Tuling won the Culinary God Championship, she died of joy. Only after arriving in the underworld did she learn that the online rumors hadn't been lying: even after death, you still had to work for the capitalist overlords down below.

Shen Tuling didn't want to work, and she didn't want to be reborn as a human either. She sent her best friend a dream asking her to burn over a luxury motorhome and gold ingots, quickly registered as a resident of Fengdu, rented a storefront by the Bridge of Helplessness, and opened a little restaurant.

And, wouldn't you know it, aside from the time-honored Meng Po Soup shop that had monopolized business on the bridge for a thousand years, hers was the busiest restaurant in the entire underworld.

The only problem was that her customers were a motley bunch.

Black and White Impermanence stopped by every time they went out on assignment. "Boss Shen, is today's special still bubble tea? Extra ice and sugar!"

Ox-Head and Horse-Face threw their arms around each other's shoulders. "A Coke with extra ice. We've been running around all day, and we're dying of thirst."

The Maoshan patriarchs, passing by on their way home from work, stopped at the smell and cried out in dismay. "Unworthy descendants! How can the incense offerings compare to this braised pork?!"

Even during meetings, the Ten Yama Kings often sent little ghosts to pick up takeout. "His Highness King Qin Guang wants spicy hotpot, and His Highness King Chu Jiang wants sweet-and-sour pork ribs. Remember to issue a receipt... I mean, a ghostly invoice."

Shen Tuling kept busy at the wok, taking it all in stride without even looking up.

That is, until an envoy from the Great Emperor of Fengdu arrived in person and slapped a gold-embossed "Underworld Special Talent Recruitment Agreement" down on her counter.

"Boss Shen," the envoy said with a beaming smile, "congratulations. Your restaurant has been taken under our wing."

Shen Tuling stared at the clause on the agreement that read "entitled to a permanent position in the underworld" and gaped.

A secure job in the underworld... She'd landed one just like that?
