*A calculating, outwardly gentle but secretly ruthless scholar x a villain with a split personality who's a lovesick puppy
*Liang Shengyi x Xie J ieping
Liang Shengyi served as an imperial physician in the palace for four years. When she returned, she discovered that her sect, Medicine King Valley, had been taken over by a new faction called Snow Ru Manor, and her hometown had been turned into a mine. Her fellow disciples, teachers, and the villagers had all vanished without a trace. No one had seen them alive or found their bodies.
With the destruction of her sect and the disappearance of the villagers weighing on her, she sets out into the martial world and the imperial court in search of the truth.
The headquarters of the demonic sect has been destroyed, and Xie Jieping, one of the candidates to become the Southern Sect's young master, has no choice but to hide his identity and blend into the city.
After Xie Jieping saves a scholar at a temple, it is the first time in his life anyone has called him a "young hero."
They assumed they were just strangers who had crossed paths by chance. But on the way to the entrance exam at Snow Ru Manor, the two, each with their own motives, unexpectedly meet again and, through a twist of fate, become partners in the exam.
An imperial physician finds new work among ordinary people, moved by the many sides of human life;
The martial world is in turmoil, and all manner of factions are stirring;
The truth is gradually revealed, and the sect's reputation lies in ruins;
The imperial court is unstable, and the country is like a battered boat under an incompetent emperor;
Moved by the people's suffering, they fight the darkness with the strength of an ant.
A little scene:
At the martial arts tournament, the rescue team from Snow Ru Manor whispers among themselves:
"It's great being both righteous and wicked. You can attend tournaments hosted by either side," Xie Jieping sighs.
"It's great not belonging to any sect. You can be sent to tournaments hosted by either side," Liang Shengyi adds listlessly.
After a while, Xie Jieping looks up, puzzled by the paper money fluttering through the air. "Why is it raining paper money?"
Liang Shengyi explains, "He's known in the martial world as the Jade-Faced Ghost King. Paper money appears every time he makes an entrance."
Xie Jieping: "...Do the people scattering the paper money get paid?"
Liang Shengyi has no idea why his attention always goes to such odd things. "I don't know."
Tang Yiming, standing nearby, rolls his eyes. "Hmph. Let's see him scatter real money."
Zhao Bingxi takes a sip of wine and comments, "Putting on airs."
After a while, Xie Jieping asks again, "Why are people playing suona and erhu during the martial arts matches?"
Liang Shengyi: "The martial arts alliance leader paid a fortune to hire them as accompaniment to liven things up. They get one silver tael a day."
Xie Jieping: "? Reborn: I'm Going to Learn the Suona!"
*Martial world + imperial court, with a broadly comedic ensemble cast.
*Feel free to point out errors. I'll fix them when I see them. I only take responsibility for the official version.
*If there's a ranking, I'll update according to it. Otherwise, two updates a week.
*An imaginary dynasty, with a mountain of original worldbuilding. Modern expressions may feel out of place.
*Women are allowed to take the imperial examinations. The imperial court storyline begins in Volume Three, "Returning West."
*The neighboring story "The Legend of Emperor Yan" is related and shares the same world. If you're interested, please add it to your collection too~
*I finally finished it. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
