Harry Potter: The Life and Lies of Hilda Potter

In June 1943, a Ravenclaw girl died. I clearly remember the last time I saw her. She was crying in a bathroom on the first floor of the castle. As Dumbledore’s student, a Gryffindor prefect, and a future elite Auror, I was determined to find the real culprit. Following the principle that the thief cries “Stop, thief!”, I turned my suspicious gaze toward my duplicitous secret lover, Tom Riddle. One-line summary: Dumbledore’s favorite student vs. the Dark Lord Also known as: "I’m a Detective at Hogwarts" "A Lifetime of Being Pursued by Slytherin Boys" "The Ill-Fated Bond I Couldn’t Escape with the Dark Lord" "How Many Lifetimes Have Potter and Malfoy Been Enemies?" "Tom Riddle: Being a Murderer With a Detective Girlfriend Is Thrilling" "Walburga’s Unlucky Life: First Potter Runs Off With Her Brother, Then Someone Runs Off With Her Son" Notes: *Written in third person. Founders Era story; the heroine is Harry’s great-aunt. *Includes plenty of mind games with Grindelwald’s followers, and some characters from the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films appear. *The heroine is imperfect and grows over time. She excels at dueling, flying, and alchemy, and is a brave, resourceful warrior. *Some characters’ ages have been adjusted slightly for dramatic and plot reasons. *Lion-and-snake romance, emphasis on the fact that this is not a conventional love story. The leads are enemies for much of the later story, locked in a love-hate relationship. Voldemort’s characterization will stay as close to the original as possible: a cold-blooded, wicked schemer, unchanged. He’ll be disfigured later on. The heroine is Voldemort’s obsessive rival, the one he can’t stop thinking about; Voldemort is the criminal she spends day and night plotting to capture. How is that not a profound bond? Healthy love is important, of course, but twisted relationships are so compelling. After reading so many sweet, doting romances, I wanted to write a different kind of relationship~ *This is not a melodramatic, angsty romance, and the heroine doesn’t suffer. At its heart, this is a Mary Sue otome story with three romantic plotlines. All three major male characters fall in love with the heroine, but in the end, she will be with the second male lead. P.S. The recent start of production on the Harry Potter TV series reminded me of my childhood, and on a whim I came up with this idea. I read the original a long time ago, so there are bound to be things I missed. If you spot a plot hole, just treat it as an original detail for this story. This is my first Harry Potter fanfic, so please be patient with any OOC moments. Thanks for your support. Theme: Hate runs deeper and lasts longer than love
