After Getting Trapped in an Elevator with My Ex

Before graduation, Jiang Yu bought a ring and prepared to propose.

When the moment felt right, they started talking about how they'd first met. Ye Zhiyi vividly remembered the moment she'd fallen for him at first sight, but he had no memory at all of their rainy-night encounter.

She'd mistaken him for someone else.

He'd been angry, upset, and resentful, but he'd never considered breaking up.

Then he set aside his pride and convinced himself: even if she fell in love at first sight with someone else, it was enough that she loved him now.

But then, without warning, she dumped him.

When they broke up, he begged her to stay. She sent him money for the long breakup message, with a note that read, "Two hundred per thousand characters, paid in full," then left without a word.

When they met again, he pretended not to care. She was genuinely indifferent. She barely glanced at him before lowering her head and gently saying to the child in her arms, "Sweetie, say hello to Uncle."

With the first snow, Jiang Yu brought out the ring that was years overdue. Ye Zhiyi looked dazed, as if she'd been transported back to the heady days of their youth.

She didn't answer for a long time, and Jiang Yu's composure finally began to crack.

"Who are you thinking about?"

"The person you used to be."

"All those years of breaking up and getting back together, I was your first love's stand-in. And now I have to be a stand-in for my past self too? Ye Zhiyi, you're being cruel!"

"My first love... was you, Jiang Yu."
