Trial Marriage

A Trial Marriage

Yu Ji, a university professor nearing thirty, had never been in a relationship. But his parents were pressuring him to go on a blind date and get married.

Yu Ji had little hope for love and no particular interest in marriage. Seeing that the other man was handsome and dressed in expensive clothes, he laid his cards on the table: "My work is the only priority in my life. I have no desire to get married."

He hoped this would scare the other man off.

But the man stood firm. "That's fine. I'm busy with work too. It just so happens that we both need a marriage. Why don't we give it a try?"

Tired of his family nagging him to get married, Yu Ji believed him when he said he was busy.

But after they married,

there was another person's shadow in the little home where Yu Ji had lived alone for years.

There was another person accompanying Yu Ji on his way to and from work.

There was another person beside Yu Ji on weekends, when he buried himself in research.

Yu Ji looked at Qin Heyao, who seemed determined to cling to him, utterly baffled. "Didn't you say you were busy?"

Qin Heyao said, "This is me being busy. Professor Yu, may I carry you to bed?"

Yu Ji: "..."

Yu Ji sighed and opened his arms, letting Qin Heyao lift him up.

Back in school, Qin Heyao had once watched someone whose life revolved around studying. That person was stiff and boring.

Years later, nearing thirty, Qin Heyao was set up on a blind date by his family, and saw that same person again.

Yu Ji hadn't changed at all, and Qin Heyao was still smitten.
