A Thousand Helmets in Youth

General bottom x eunuch top

In the seventeenth year of Yongchang, General Jiang Jingrong of the Great Sheng fought a bloody battle against the northern frontier. North of Ruzhou, the setting sun cast its light over the land, and the northern cavalry nearly reached the gates of Shengjing.

But Jiang Jingrong disappeared.

The court was abuzz with speculation. They accused him of defecting to the enemy and fleeing, calling him a traitor.

A man could fight bravely for more than a decade without recognition, then lose one battle and become everyone's target.

No one remembered his accomplishments.

Xiao Mou, the chief eunuch of the inner court, had always been unpredictable. But lately, he seemed like a different person.

No one knew that he had hidden a crippled general in his courtyard.

"I always liked you best like this, General." He toyed with the red cord in his hand, teasing the red-eyed man beneath him. "Cry once, General, and I'll take one out."
