The events in the blurb happen about 200,000 words in. The crematorium storyline takes up a small portion. There will be melodramatic misunderstandings, but at heart it’s about an awkward, silly couple falling in love. Side couple: Liu Chuyue x Jin Shiyu (Liu is the pursuer).] Ming He never expected to transmigrate into a fluffy romance novel she’d once read, becoming a minor sidekick who followed the vicious villainess around, pouring tea and running errands, only to have her entire family exiled abroad by the male lead to mine. The good news was that she had arrived in the story during their childhood, before anything had happened, and she had her own body and name. The bad news was that the System had left her with a single mission, “Make the villainess happy,” then gone silent, while both her mind and body had shrunk into a child’s. - Age seven. Back in a child’s body, she didn’t like moving or talking to people. All she cared about was eating, drinking, and having fun. The young heiress was arrogant and pampered, throwing tantrums at the slightest displeasure, but she was also silly and easy to fool. In early summer, with roses in bloom, Ming He played house in the garden with the lonely heiress who had no friends. - Age eighteen. The college entrance exams were over. Ming He realized her feelings for the heiress had changed. Unable to hold back, she took her hand and said, “I like you.” Pei Jinyu linked arms with the male lead, standing close to him. She seemed amused by Ming He’s clumsy, out-of-the-blue confession, looking as beautiful as a rose in full bloom, swaying in the breeze. That summer was unbearably hot, and it seemed to stretch on forever. - Just before summer vacation ended, Ming He’s System finally showed up, overwhelmed with gratitude as it praised her for completing her mission so well. The villainess’s Happiness Value had reached its maximum, and Ming He could choose to go home or stay. Ming He looked at the heiress nestled in her arms, her eyes bright as she dreamed about their future. But all she could think about was the chat history she’d seen on the heiress’s phone the night before: [I’m just having fun. How could I take it seriously?] [I just wanted to see what a poker-faced person would be like in a relationship.] [Who would ever fall for a sidekick?] So she was the silly one who was easy to fool after all. Ming He told the System she was leaving the next morning. - The heiress woke to find herself alone in the rental apartment, with a warm breakfast and a note on the bedside table. After breakfast, she waited half a day, pretending to be nonchalant, before opening the note to see what sweet words that poker-faced girl had written for her. [Let’s break up.] The villainess’s Happiness Value plummeted. The System had just returned to headquarters to settle the mission when its alarm suddenly went off. Theme: Love can heal pain.
