Xu Dongjin stared at her, bewildered. "? Why are you stealing my line?!"

Shu Yu was the main villain in an ancient-era novel featuring a powerful female lead. During her final showdown with the heroine, she unexpectedly crossed out of the book.

The good news: She didn't have to fight anymore.

The bad news: She couldn't fight anymore!

Even worse, she had no money, power, or influence, and she wasn't even registered as a resident.

But luckily, she had a hostage (?).

On the third day after Shu Yu crossed out of the book, the author posted an announcement about going on hiatus: "You probably won't believe this, but I woke up and my outline, saved drafts, and character profiles were all gone. I'm off to get drunk at a bar. Don't worry about me."

The comments were full of complaints.

Only Xu Dongjin, watching Shu Yu work hard to adapt to modern life and prepare to make a comeback, secretly wiped away a bead of sweat. "I believe you. QAQ"

A month after Shu Yu crossed out of the book, she'd successfully adapted to modern life and started studying elementary school textbooks. Xu Dongjin, who had at least graduated from university, confidently offered to tutor her. "Use equations!"

Shu Yu looked at the textbook. "It doesn't teach equations."

Xu Dongjin pushed up her glasses to hide her embarrassment. "That's how us wage slaves are. Our intelligence peaks during the college entrance exams."

Then she made a regretful exit.

A year after Shu Yu crossed out of the book, she was about to take the adult college entrance exam when Xu Dongjin dragged her to a temple dedicated to the God of Academic Success.

"Didn't you say superstition was nonsense?" Shu Yu asked.

Xu Dongjin said solemnly, "We modern people only believe in two gods."

Shu Yu: "?"

Xu Dongjin looked reverent. "The God of Wealth and the God of Academic Success."

On the Nth day after Shu Yu crossed out of the book, she worked up the courage to confess to Xu Dongjin. "I like you."

Xu Dongjin made a heart with her hands and shouted, "I like you too!"

Overcome with the joy of their feelings being mutual, Shu Yu kissed her.

Xu Dongjin was shocked. "Huh???"

Then she fled in a panic. You never said you meant that kind of like!
