Tong Run is a good kid whom everyone loves.
He is fair and handsome, with a pair of clear, lustrous eyes that always seem to hold tears. He gets excellent grades, has a good personality, and can strike up a conversation with anyone.
Everyone likes him, except Wen Yingsui.
Wen Yingsui is a big name at S University. Handsome and aloof, he is cold and unsentimental. His buttons are always fastened to the very top. A model student, he is as flawless as a perfectly straight line.
Born into a powerful family, he has no need to curry favor with anyone or put in the effort to cultivate friendships like Tong Run does. He seems to regard everyone with the same detached indifference.
But Tong Run knows that Wen Yingsui hates him.
Wen Yingsui hated him back in high school, and after they entered university, he only hated him more.
When their dorm assignments were posted, Wen Yingsui saw Tong Run's name beside his and his expression darkened.
Tong Run wasn't quite sure why.
Maybe his roommate, perched atop the social pyramid and possessed of an unusually strong sense of morality, had sharp enough eyes to see that his perfect social mask was all an act. Maybe he couldn't stand Tong Run's desperate scheming and found it disgusting.
There were plenty of examples:
Wen Yingsui would wrinkle his nose and complain that Tong Run's perfume smelled cheap and awful.
Wen Yingsui would stare at the piercing holes in Tong Run's ears after he took out his earrings, his expression full of contempt.
Wen Yingsui would never use the bathroom after Tong Run.
Wen Yingsui hated that Tong Run secretly had a tailor alter his uniform to fit better...
Wen Yingsui was the only person on campus who knew Tong Run had a tongue piercing.
He seemed to find it nauseating.
Tong Run didn't care. He and Wen Yingsui had never been cut from the same cloth. As long as he could get through his student years, their paths would never cross again. Wen Yingsui was someone he couldn't afford to provoke, so he could only avoid him.
Until one night at a party, Tong Run got tipsy but pretended to be drunk, planning a small, pathetic act of revenge for all the grief he'd suffered.
A friend asked Wen Yingsui to take him back to their dorm. Wen Yingsui paused for a long time before agreeing.
Tong Run figured Wen Yingsui must be disgusted out of his mind, and secretly gloated.
But the moment the dorm door shut, Wen Yingsui spun around, pinned him against it, gripped his jaw, and kissed him.
As he kissed him, he desperately licked Tong Run's tongue piercing.
His usually cold and sharp-tongued roommate let out a needy gasp. His face flushed as if with drink, and he murmured incoherently, "Baby, you're so pretty..."
Later, Tong Run discovered Wen Yingsui's secret diary.
"Runrun got an ear cartilage piercing. So pretty. I want to bite it so badly."
"Runrun went out to eat with his friend today. He smiled at him seven times."
"Baby's being bad. Those altered clothes are too short. When he bent over to pick up his pen, his waist showed."
"Baby, could you stop wearing perfume? You smell so good. When I get close to him, I just..."
"It's all Baby's fault. He made me like this."
Tong Run was terrified. He thought Wen Yingsui might be mentally ill, so he pretended not to notice anything while secretly planning to move out of the dorm.
But then he caught Wen Yingsui sneaking into his room in the middle of the night and opening the wardrobe he never let anyone touch. Wen Yingsui took out the clothes of Tong Run's that had gone missing, buried his face in them, and inhaled their scent with an obsessive fervor, as if in the grip of some delusion.
Tong Run: "…"
...What the hell? Weren't we supposed to be mortal enemies? How is he gay? :)
