Right after graduating from university, Chen Yinxia was talked into doing paranormal livestreams by a friend. After his first broadcast, he went home, came down with a high fever, and fell seriously ill.
He suspected something unclean had followed him, so he begged every god and Buddha he could think of for help:
"Heavenly spirits, earthly spirits, please answer my call. Supreme Lord Lao, show your power. I'll burn incense and worship Buddha..."
"All you gods and bodhisattvas, please protect me. I really didn't do it on purpose. I didn't curse anyone or wreck anything. When the ancestral tablet fell over, I even put it back up for them."
"It insisted on following me..."
On top of that, Chen Yinxia had inexplicable dreams every night, always featuring the same "person."
"Your name is Chen Yinxia."
His feet were rooted to the spot.
"Huh, you have the same name and look the same, too."
A hand closed around his throat.
There was no escape...
The next second, heaven and earth changed, and reality blurred with illusion. Yellow talismans and bronze bells wound around Chen Yinxia from head to toe, as if trying to crush him.
"These are all things you used on me back then. You really showed me no mercy."
Chen Yinxia raised his head in pain, utterly bewildered.
Several seals flew from the person's body and burrowed into his flesh.
"The true fire of the netherworld, destroy filth and purge defilement. Let the soul leave the body, let the flesh become dust, and vanish forever from the mortal world."
"Why do you want me to never be reborn?"
After he woke from the nightmare, Chen Yinxia heard only this by his ear: "My dear junior brother, it's been a long time. I'll come see you again tonight."
W-was this thing clinging to him now?
