Back to the Nineties: I Raise Myself as My Wife

After Chi Si died of illness, she returned to twenty years earlier and became a stranger named Xu Tangling, a 23-year-old surgeon who had returned from overseas. She came from a distinguished family and was in the prime of her life.

That year, 16-year-old Chi Si was in the dilapidated dormitory of a coal plant, about to take a knife to her gambling-addict father. What followed would lead to one mistake after another.

In 1990s Shanghai, people were dazzled by wealth. Some struck it rich overnight, while others lost everything in half a day.

The first thing Chi Si did after setting down her scalpel was board the earliest train to the small county town of Yangyi, heading to the coal plant to reclaim the knife that her younger self had not yet stained with blood.

Fortunately, there was still time.

She bought stocks and started a business, building herself up from nothing again. She urged the other girl to study hard, all so she could fulfill her younger self's dream of studying abroad.

She knelt to replace the shoes that rubbed Chi Si's feet, ordered milk, gave her delicious food, and showed her the bustling splendor of Huanghe Road. She even helped her work through the unspeakable troubles of a young girl's adolescence... and the oral fixation left by trauma.

She put the very best of everything in front of her, so Chi Si would never again have to worry about making ends meet.

She stayed by her younger self's side as family, helping her step by step out of the abyss. She wanted to pull the girl, who had one foot in darkness, back onto the right path. She never expected her younger self to confess:

"Big Sis, what should I do if I've fallen in love with you?"
