After narrowly escaping death, Naxosis woke to find that he had lost nearly three years of his memory.
The beauty keeping watch beside the bed was thin and haggard, his gaze toward Naxosis full of complicated emotions.
Naxosis fell for him at first sight. Before he could ask anything, he was jolted by the bruises on the beauty's neck and the broken shackles around his wrist.
The day after waking, Naxosis learned from someone else that the beauty was his fiance. He had fallen in love at first sight and, disregarding the other's wishes, forcibly brought him home to marry him. After the wedding, he had staged a whole forced-love drama of "he runs, I chase, he can't get away even if he grows wings."
Naxosis: ...???
Impossible! Absolutely impossible!!
Chu Yinxun said nothing. He sat quietly, like an exquisite abandoned doll, broken and tragic.
Naxosis: ...
If it was Chu Yinxun, somehow it didn't seem impossible after all.
*
Chu Yinxun was a thoroughly crazy man.
Ten days after his marriage to Naxosis was officially declared over, Chu Yinxun built a marvelous cage, intending to keep Naxosis, son of a marshal and imperial general, locked by his side.
But on the day he was going to put his plan into action, he received news that Naxosis had been ambushed and was gravely injured and unconscious.
The good news: Naxosis had amnesia and didn't remember the divorce.
Even better news: Naxosis mistakenly believed that he was the poor bird trapped in a cage. After waking, he treated Chu Yinxun with the utmost care and indulged his every whim.
Listening as Naxosis cautiously asked for them to start over, Chu Yinxun couldn't help smiling.
Heaven... really did favor him.

Their married life was sweet and happy, but Naxosis sometimes couldn't help thinking that, if only he hadn't gone about things the wrong way at first, he would surely have won Chu Yinxun's beautiful love long ago. Chu Yinxun was so tolerant and gentle.
That is, until a man who looked three parts like Chu Yinxun knocked on their door, crying so hard his face was streaked with tears, and produced the betrothal token exchanged between their two families.
Naxosis: ...
#What do I do if my wife turns out not to be my wife?# What do I do, what do I do?! I'm about to die of anxiety!!!
A few minor content notes:
1. The gong has a fiance, but they've never met. The shou has been taking the fiance's place from the very beginning.
2. "He runs, I chase, he can't get away even if he grows wings" is just gossip and speculation. Don't believe it.
3. Mutual feelings, pretend coercion (the pretend part is important).
4. A story about two idiots who failed to communicate properly, leading to a deeply tragic romance (not really).
Theme: Love yourself before you love someone else.
