When bad luck strikes, even drinking water can make you bite your tongue.

In a hollow in a primeval forest, a calico tomcat muttered to himself.

The cat had been unlucky even as a post-00s kid. After graduating with a liberal arts degree during the pandemic, he couldn't find a job, so he had no choice but to leave the workforce and spend two years preparing for the civil service exam. After finally passing, he went for a walk after dinner and was hit by a truck, which sent him transmigrating. He'd just been congratulating himself on still being alive when he realized he'd become a cat, and an infertile calico at that. He'd just consoled himself that being a cat was still cute, only to discover he was too small to fend for himself and would starve to death...

Life really was one fall after another...

But since he'd come all this way, he had to keep living.

The cat bravely went hunting, and ended up attracting the attention of a beastman.

The cat was adopted.

"Raising a clumsy little one like this is a hassle," the beastman Yun commented.

Yue, the younger brother of the Frostwind Tribe's chieftain, was happy to pet the cat. "As long as he's cute."

As it turned out, being cute wasn't the cat's only talent.

With the help of the Glutinous Rice Cake System, the cat learned to smelt bronze and make pottery, and completed a whole book of biological records... He even learned magic and alchemy, chasing after a titan mammoth and blowing up its backside until he drove it out of his territory, head held high.

He also used words and deeds to describe and record all kinds of knowledge about the past, present, and future. He taught the beastmen how to survive on the savage continent, led them in building cities, and helped them create a brilliant beastman civilization.

The cat became a renowned high priest throughout the beastman world, and was even worshipped as a god. But he remained humble and elegant, wanting nothing more than to eat delicious roasted snake and steamed fish every day.

It would be even better if they were caught by the handsome big white bird at home.

Yu, the chieftain of the Frostwind Tribe, was in a bind. He'd fallen for a cat who was a little out there, but the cat had been adopted by his own younger brother and was, in name, his little brother too.

Because of this, his two younger brothers took turns berating him.

"You actually like Mimi! You watched him grow up, and you still have those kinds of thoughts? Big Brother, you, you..." Yue, who was practically the cat's second mother, was horrified.

"Exactly! He's so tiny. How could he lay eggs?" Their younger brother Song chimed in.

Yu could only hang his head and take the scolding. But when it came to action, he was decisive: he confessed, moved in with the cat, and slept with their necks entwined. His younger brothers were deeply shaken and gossiped about them every day.

Fortunately, after looking around at all the beastmen, they realized nobody was good enough for their big brother and the little cat. At last, Yu's ears were free of their nagging, leaving only the cat's purring.
