Lin Chen was orphaned at a young age and so poor he could barely scrape by. At school, he often had to go without a meal, and he kept wearing his school uniform jacket even after it had faded from washing, patching it up whenever it tore.
In his sophomore year of high school, a rich young master transferred into his class. He was tall, handsome, and bad-tempered. Whenever he got into a fight, he would flip over a desk, sending everything in its cubby clattering to the floor.
The young master spent money like water and couldn't be bothered to pick anything up, so every time he swept it all into the trash.
After that, whenever the young master got into another fight, the penniless Lin Chen would shout, "You two, stop fighting!" while dashing over to crouch beside the trash can and wait to scavenge the young master's castoffs.
Later, the young master got into a fight and someone slashed a hole in his uniform jacket. He tossed the jacket into the trash, too.
Lin Chen happily fished it out and kept wearing it. It was a little big, but otherwise perfectly fine.
The young master knew someone in his class had a crush on him.
The pens and scrap paper he didn't want kept appearing on that guy's desk every few days. Whenever the guy saw him fighting, he got terribly nervous and shouted, "Stop fighting!"
Even the uniform jacket he'd thrown away showed up on the guy the very next day. The oversized uniform exposed a stretch of his slender, pale nape and a tiny red mole.
The young master stared at that nape, scowling, though his ears turned red. After school, in a rare act of generosity, he wrote his contact information on a slip of paper and handed it to the guy.
But the young master watched as the guy studied the slip in confusion for two minutes, then looked enlightened. The guy helpfully tossed the paper into the trash, gave him a simple, shy smile, and asked if there was anything else he needed help with.
The young master: ?
Wait, something didn't seem right.
