Then he went three months without a single bite to eat.

He couldn’t understand how anyone could stay up later than a ghost.

Mu Bai had to pick a new target: the artist’s uncle.

His new target was the CEO of a major company, a calm and steady man who was intensely disciplined and went to bed early and got up early every day.

Mu Bai was delighted. Every night, he snuck over to sit on the CEO’s chest.

Afraid that doing it too long would ruin the CEO’s early bedtime routine, he thoughtfully limited himself to half a day.

After a while, well fed and satisfied, Mu Bai started slacking off.

But the CEO went to bed earlier and earlier, and slept longer and longer.

Eventually, he slept all day.

Before long, he’d even turned his whole schedule upside down.

Mu Bai thought this was strange.

Every night, the CEO saw a little ghost come to sit on his chest.

The tiny thing would lie on top of him and mutter, “I’ll just sit on you for a bit, just for a bit.”

Once, the CEO rolled over, and the little ghost on top of him went tumbling to the floor. When it got up, it looked completely dazed.

The CEO: “…”

He thought the little ghost didn’t seem very strong.

So the CEO got a bigger bed.

But after that, the little ghost came to sit on his chest less and less, until one day he stopped coming altogether.

No matter how early the CEO went to bed, whether he slept all day or turned his schedule upside down, even if he bathed and burned incense, the little ghost never came back.

Eventually, the CEO paid a fortune to hire a Taoist priest.

After catching the little ghost, the CEO’s first question was, “Who have you been sitting on instead?”

His second was, “So the grass is greener on the other side?”

Mu Bai, dangling by the scruff of his neck: “????”
