Sheng Xia worked overtime until she died from exhaustion during the 996 work grind. When she woke up again, she was back in 1992, in the textile factory's residential compound.
Her mother was the leader of the Iron Maidens team on the textile workshop floor, and her father was the head chef in the factory canteen. They weren't rich, but their family lived comfortably.
Even though Sheng Xia hadn't gotten into university, the factory was a solid safety net, and she had no real reason to worry about the future.
But Sheng Xia knew that this summer would change her family's fate.
The textile factory was poorly managed. Her parents, along with everyone else, pooled their savings and invested them in the factory, only for it to go bankrupt and leave the entire workforce unemployed!
Their family was so poor they could barely afford to eat. When her parents tried to sell fabric from the textile factory, thugs robbed them. Her father was beaten so badly that his leg was permanently injured, and he limped for the rest of his life.
Her parents asked Sheng Xia's older cousin to take her south to find work. But her cousin took the money and sold Sheng Xia to an illegal factory.
Now that Sheng Xia was reborn, she wasn't going to fall for any of those traps: no factory, no heading south.
She would take her parents bargain-hunting!
The famous Hongbinlou Restaurant, renowned in her previous life, went bankrupt that year.
This century-old restaurant was later acquired by someone who made a fortune from it. It even became the most popular internet-famous restaurant, renowned across the country.
But right now, it was on the verge of bankruptcy. Even after its price was slashed so low it was practically being given away, nobody would take it off their hands. It was a money pit.
"Dad, Mom, let's buy Hongbinlou!"

Lately, a rumor had been going around every corner of Textile Lane: the Sheng family had thrown all their pooled savings into the mess that was Hongbinlou!
Everyone knew it was a good idea to invest in the factory. There'd be dividends, and they were even planning to build Western-style apartment buildings for everyone to live in!
Instead of picking up free money, the Shengs were wasting theirs taking over someone else's problem. They must have lost their minds!
Her archenemy was smug as she looked forward to the dividends and to moving into an apartment with her family. Once they did, she said, they'd definitely book a table at Hongbinlou.
She was especially looking forward to seeing Sheng Xia's mother get humiliated!
Oh, and she hoped Hongbinlou wouldn't go under before then!
But who would have thought that, after all that waiting, Hongbinlou would gradually grow from a run-down little building into the most popular restaurant in all of Jiangcheng?
Meanwhile, bad news came from the textile factory...
