The Background Heroine's Little Diner

Song Yueyao transmigrates and discovers that she is nothing more than a minor character. Living next door is the male lead, Cui Henian, a man who spends his life serving the people and takes charge of the realm on behalf of the young emperor in times of crisis. He will become the future chancellor.

She and her family only appear in the story because, years later, while chatting with the young emperor, Cui Henian recalls that when he was a poor student, the best food he ever ate was the noodles made by the auntie next door. His family is included for no reason other than to give someone an excuse to eat dumplings for the vinegar.

But Song Yueyao and her family are real. To make a living, Song Yueyao returns to her old job from her previous life, when she used to help her parents sell boxed lunches during the holidays. With the future chancellor's good word behind her, her little restaurant flourishes. But who would have thought that Cui Henian would keep mooching meals next door until he simply never left? After placing first in the imperial exams, he blushes and asks Song Yueyao, "Would you like to open your little restaurant in the capital?"

Song Yueyao's eyes light up. "Yes, yes! The capital is prosperous. We can make more money there than in our county town."
