Thirty Thousand Miles South of the Clouds

I once read a poem with the lines: The great roc rises with the wind one day, soaring straight up ninety thousand li.

Yan Luo hated the haughty top student in his class, the one who didn't care about anything. An orphan who had enrolled in an elite military academy, Yan Luo was always covered in marks from brawling with other people. He still remembered the top student's haughty glance as he walked past one of their fights. Seeing his own miserable reflection in those eyes had humiliated him. After that, the school began strictly banning fights.

Gong Qi was the son of a powerful family. His mother died, his older brother died, and then his older sister died. After a sudden impulse, he fled that home, left his father's territory, and wandered from place to place doing odd jobs.

Yan Luo ran into that top student again in his own territory. It seemed the other man didn't remember him.

While working, Gong Qi ended up in the military special district everyone was afraid to talk about. The mountains and rivers were lovely, but he kept running into a neighbor who looked for trouble with him.

"Top student, if we're going to survive together, let's stop being neighbors!" Yan Luo shouted arrogantly into the biting wind high above the ground.

"If not neighbors, then what?" The top student behind him ignored his father's command to pursue them and the life draining from his body, then asked with a smile.

"Lovers!"

Theme: No matter how high above the ground you are, there's always a place where you can be free.
