Pu Zhongsheng has barely graduated before joining the ranks of the exploited, ready to work around the clock on a 996 schedule for a pittance. But after applying for several jobs, each boss respectfully shows him the door.
The reasons vary, but every boss has the same reaction: their faces change dramatically after reading his resume.
Pu Zhongsheng is baffled. His resume clearly says he graduated from a prestigious university. How did it somehow become the Eighteenth-Level Institute?
How bizarre!
As it turns out, he's not the only one who's surprised. The moment he leaves, the boss of the major company, a B-level supernatural entity, immediately pulls out a handkerchief, wipes his sweat, and trembles with fear.
Thank goodness he got that terrifying man out the door in time. Otherwise, he might have been the one in trouble tonight!
To support himself, Pu Zhongsheng decides to give up on a respectable job and survive by taking odd jobs.
On his first day, he accidentally wanders into a supernatural realm and gets attached to by a boy who clings to him for dear life.
The boy is a little temperamental, clingy, and picky about food. He looks at Pu Zhongsheng in a very strange way.
Pu Zhongsheng finds it puzzling, but takes the boy as a comfort amid his exhaustion. The two of them are both in a sorry state, so they can at least sympathize with each other.
Though it seems the boy's affliction is more serious.
The places Pu Zhongsheng works are always strange. His coworkers don't seem like coworkers, his clients don't seem like clients, and the people don't seem like people.
Then one day, the boy he's brought home grows considerably taller overnight, pins him forcefully to the sofa, and curls his lips into a smile. “Pu Zhongsheng, sometimes I really want to swallow you whole.”
Looking at that handsome, mature face, a mysterious professor from his school days, who shared the boy's name, suddenly flashes through Pu Zhongsheng's mind.
Just four words: terrifying beyond belief!
The Eighteenth-Level Institute lies at the border between the supernatural world and the human world. It has stood for centuries because its graduates are the nemeses of supernatural entities.
But what supernatural entities fear most is the Institute's most evil professor, Jin Ze.
He is unruly and fiercely protective of his students. If he catches you, you might not die, but you'll wish you had.
However, the supernatural entities have observed that there's another way to die after being caught by him: the young man at his side. Anyone who touches him dies instantly.
Theme: I will guide you in the form of a deity. May you be far from all the evil in this world.
