1. On the night of her 18th birthday, Su Yurao gathers her courage and does the only truly rebellious thing of her life: like a little rabbit, she sneaks into Su Yiran's bed.
Su Yiran's Adam's apple bobs as his eyes darken. For the first time in his life, he flies into a rage at his younger sister. "Get out!"
Even though they aren't related by blood, a younger sister is still a younger sister.
2. After four years abroad, Su Yurao returns to find that everything has changed. The brother who once treated her with tenderness and doted on her has become the designated heir to the family, while she has been cast aside and ordered to use her beauty as a bargaining chip to maximize the family's interests.
"Rao Rao, date the young master of the Yin family and get hold of their business secrets." Su Yiran has issued this order so indifferently so many times that she can't even remember how often.
Su Yurao can't take it anymore and finally explodes. "Su Yiran, do you think I'm a prostitute?"
Su Yiran finally looks up from his documents. "It's a family decision. You can't refuse."
Su Yurao can barely breathe. She cries all night.
3. Su Yurao resigns herself to her fate, and realizes that Su Yiran has resigned himself to his, too. He discusses marriage with the woman his family has chosen for him, someone he's met fewer than three times, and prepares to get engaged.
Su Yurao gives a bitter smile. After loving him her whole life, this is how things have turned out. She thinks she'll accept it calmly, but on the day of the engagement ceremony, she gets into a car accident.
When she wakes up, she remembers the whole world, but has forgotten Su Yiran alone.
The moment he hears about the accident, Su Yiran goes mad. He announces that the engagement banquet is canceled, then leaves his fiancée and the roomful of guests behind and races along the elevated highway to Jiangcheng Hospital.
He can no longer hold back. His eyes bloodshot, he says, "Rao Rao, I'm your brother. I love you."
But Su Yurao steps back a little, frowning. "Who are you? How can a brother love his sister?"
For the first time in his life, the self-satisfied heir to the powerful Su Group feels as if his soul has been emptied out.
4. Later, after trying every way he can think of and still failing to make Su Yurao remember him, he laughs bitterly. He yanks her out of another man's passenger seat and shoves her into the back of his own car. Pinning her hands, he leans over and kisses her, his scorching lips capturing the breath shattered by her accident. An unprecedented madness flashes in his eyes. "Your mind may have forgotten, but your body still remembers, doesn't it?"
Bonus scene:
Su Yiran: When you were little, I used to tell you bedtime stories to help you fall asleep.
Su Yurao: So childish...
Su Yiran reaches out, loosens his tie, and kisses her earlobe. "Now that you're grown up, I'll have to use a different way to help you sleep..."
