[Gentle, slow-witted heiress fallen on hard times] × [Composed business queen with an unexpected cute side]
After three years of marriage, Qi Miao was finally getting a divorce.
Her wife, Tang Xue, had done nothing wrong. She was a business queen, three years older than Qi Miao, with a gentle nature and a constant smile. At public events, she would affectionately straighten Qi Miao's collar. Sometimes, after a few drinks in the evening, she would reach out and ask Qi Miao to carry her to the bath.
It was just that three years ago, Qi Miao's company had run into financial trouble.
A business marriage had helped the Qi family weather the crisis and made them legal spouses listed in each other's household registers.
It also made Qi Miao cautious about everything throughout their three years of marriage, doing her utmost to fulfill her duties as a wife
She attended public events with Tang Xue and bashfully told their friends that her wife was both beautiful and adorable. Every morning, still half-asleep, she would fry an egg for herself.
When she heard that Tang Xue had gotten drunk somewhere, Qi Miao didn't mind being woken by a call in the middle of the night. She hurriedly threw on her slippers and robe and drove over to pick her up.
When the woman stubbornly refused to put on shoes and went barefoot, Qi Miao worried she'd catch a chill. Standing by the roadside in her slippers, braving the cold wind, she chattered away as she haggled with someone to buy Tang Xue two pairs of the thickest socks.
For three years, they'd treated each other with courtesy and kept out of each other's affairs.
Three years later, Qi Miao's company was in even worse shape.
Qi Miao resolved to stop dragging Tang Xue down. She had no intention of continuing to play-act this marriage, either.
As stipulated in their prenuptial agreement, she prepared the divorce papers and arranged to leave with nothing. That evening, Qi Miao took off her wedding ring and knocked on Tang Xue's door.
The door opened. The composed business queen stood there in a bathrobe, red lips and black hair, her gaze fixed on Qi Miao's bare ring finger. She said nothing.
Qi Miao held out the wedding ring and divorce papers together, smiling gently.
"Let's get divorced."
They had only married by agreement. Now that the agreement had expired, they should both honor the promise they'd made back then.
She'd never thought Tang Xue would object.
Even less had she expected Tang Xue to seem like a different person from that day on
Though she couldn't cook, she started getting up early, lips pressed together in earnest concentration as she carefully fried an egg for Qi Miao.
Though they'd lived separately from the day they married, she suddenly slipped into Qi Miao's bed, her soft shoulders exposed, and said she'd had a nightmare. She wouldn't sleep until Qi Miao patted her back.
Though she knew they were getting divorced, she still sulked whenever she saw Qi Miao take off her ring after coming home. Then, with great care, she slid it back onto Qi Miao's ring finger and warned her not to take it off for the next half month, not even to bathe.
Stranger still
She kept bringing up the silly things they'd said as children.
"Qi Miao, you said you wanted to marry me when you were only six."
