A collection of short stories featuring multiple characters and all kinds of worlds (the stories are unrelated to one another) (They may not be written in the order shown here; inspiration decides the order.)
Each story has a different heroine, but they are all beautiful married women. OOC warning!
[Story One / Gin: Sinking Into the Beyond]
"I never bother remembering the names of the dead."
His gaze fell on the black-haired woman.
She was just as beautiful and composed as she had been at the funeral, her eyes slightly red.
He braced the half-open door with the toe of his shoe, gripped the woman's chin, and looked down at his prey.
"So, what did you just say... Whose wife are you?"
[Story Two / Shuichi Akai: Long Nights for You]
"I'm sorry. You guessed right. I'm not Subaru Okiya."
His voice was apologetic. At last, he opened his eyes, revealing their dark green irises.
Knowing the girl was a crybaby, he sighed, crouched down, and deftly wiped away the tears on her cheeks.
"Don't make that face. I was the one who attended your wedding."
"Unless, compared with me, the man who shares your bed, you'd rather have him come over tonight..."
[Story Three / Chuya Nakahara: Anonymous Affection]
"I'll take responsibility."
After accidentally seeing his subordinate naked during a mission, his face turned bright red. He forced himself to stay calm and cleared his throat twice. "Actually, I've had feelings for you for a long time, too..."
"What! You said you're already married!"
The girl's words left him speechless, the rest of his confession caught in his throat.
Watching her lift her chin as if showing off, he flusteredly looked away and asked as though he didn't care.
"When did that happen...? Was it before you met me or after?"
[Story Four / Osamu Dazai: A Silent Fall]
"God doesn't love you."
Having just lost his best friend, he looked on at everything with cold indifference.
He watched as the girl was ignored and neglected time and again, until at last she hid in a church to lick her wounds, becoming a lonely soul just like him.
"What a poor child..."
Looking into the girl's damp, bewildered eyes, he laid a hand on her head. Under God's watchful gaze, his voice softened as he gently coaxed her with an invitation.
"Beautiful miss..."
"If you have nowhere to go, would you like to die with me?"
[Story Five / Ranpo Edogawa: Localized Rain]
"Huh, that's her inner voice...?"
He was certain he had no supernatural ability.
Yet the eyes that could usually see through the truth at a glance couldn't solve the mystery surrounding the girl in the distance.
At first, he had only been curious.
But at some point, he began to resent the other men who appeared by her side.
"You don't love him at all."
He pointed it out with startling accuracy, then drooped his head like a dejected cat.
"I'm supposed to be the one you're trying to win over."
And [*Special Extra / Kenjiro Hagiwara & Jinpei Matsuda: A Hormonal Mismatch]
"I think I've fallen for someone other than my target."
Among the many people working through conquest missions, Chie was one of the rare few who completed hers without a hitch, but even she had her troubles.
She had cheated.
She had fallen in love at first sight with a strange man who had suddenly appeared in her home, and she didn't even know his full name.
Then one day, her husband decided to come home unexpectedly. In a panic, she tried to hide the young man, only for him to be discovered.
She thought it was all over, but Jinpei Matsuda acted as if he hadn't noticed him at all, completely ignoring someone so conspicuous. His hand even passed right through the man's body!
"Sorry, Chie. I was going to keep it from you a little longer," the young man with shoulder-length hair sighed, ruffling the girl's head.
"I died four years ago."
"It sounds unbelievable, but it seems you're the only one who can touch me."
---Highlights---
Each heroine's original mission was to win over one of these men in a 1v1 romance, but they all failed.
So they gave up, deliberately defied the System, and married someone else. Unexpectedly, that was what made them succeed... (A complicated mood.)
Except in the special extra, the heroines' husbands are all just tools for the plot.
A heads-up about potential issues: questionable values, yes; OOC, yes.
The blurb was screenshotted and saved on 2024.9.25.
Theme: Don't be afraid of loneliness. Someone will come to love you.
