[Detective Conan] Three and a Half Days as Lovers

[Not contracted to a publisher; short novella; opens with an abduction, with flashbacks woven throughout] Jiang Ye Qianjian was the youngest and most promising rising star in the police force's First Investigation Division... or at least, he had been. Because he had gone missing. Three months ago, an explosion and fire destroyed the young police officer's apartment. Flames and thick smoke sealed off the windows and doors, leaving no chance of survival. The only saving grace was that Jiang Ye Qianjian's body wasn't found inside. He seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth. No matter how hard anyone searched, they couldn't find the slightest trace of him. The only clue was the sudden fire. It was confirmed to have been deliberately set, yet strangely, no one could identify the mastermind behind it. Jinpei Matsuda, his classmate from the police academy, resolutely transferred out of the Bomb Disposal Unit to pursue the truth in this nearly unsolvable case. But he had no idea that this was neither an accident nor a deliberate murder. It was simply an abduction plan, years in the making, painstakingly arranged by one man. All to welcome the lover he'd known for only three and a half days. *Reader's guide: The entire Police Academy group is presumed alive. Love at first sight, mutual feelings. Short story; practice writing romance. Theme: Love isn't a shackle, but a tender restraint.
