Why Do I Still Have to Work After Getting Transported to Another World?

After dying from staying up all night writing a thesis, she transmigrated into an unusually poor new family. She had an older brother and sister, and a twin younger brother.

They were so poor they could barely feed themselves, and the family was preparing to arrange her marriage.

Chu Yingzhao suppressed the urge to lose it and went out to look for work.

There were hardly any jobs to be found on the streets.

Errand runner, odd-job worker, butcher, blacksmith...

Chu Yingzhao muttered to herself, "I'm a proper graduate student, a research beast..."

"Hello, are you hiring?"

"Get lost! Which family's brat came here to mess with me?"

What about going into business?

Selling steamed buns or wontons, cooking up good food and opening a restaurant?

Chu Yingzhao continued muttering, "I've never lifted a finger around the house. I ate my parents' cooking at home and cafeteria food at school. I'm a research beast who can't cook and has no capital."

The Prince of Yue's residence was recruiting advisers. A crowd ranging from young men in their twenties to old men in their seventies gathered outside to apply.

After a whole day of job hunting and repeated rejections, Chu Yingzhao, by now as lifeless as a dead fish, stood in line behind an old man with empty eyes.

It was her turn--

"Name and age."

"Chu Yingzhao. Two--uh, sixteen."

"What can you do?"

I can write papers and use the internet. I can play games and argue with people.

"I can write articles." That's not bragging, is it? I can write academic papers!

"I'm learned in history and geography." I've spent over a decade roaming the internet. Doesn't that count?

"I can assess the enemy's situation when two sides go to war." Heh, I'm pretty good at games.

"I'm articulate and persuasive." Anyone can argue.

What's the most important thing in an interview? Of course, having a thick skin! The world is one giant amateur operation, and she's the only research beast in it!

She puffed out her chest confidently!

The man in charge sucked in a breath. "Hey! This kid's got a lot of nerve. Very good, you're hired!"

Chu Yingzhao's eyes lit up at once, and she sprang back to life from her listless state. "Great, great, I can start work right now!"
