Song Xingyue came from a humble background. Apart from her passable looks, there was little else in her life to be pleased with.
But after she became intimate with the young lord, she married into the Duke's household and became the young lord's wife.
Xie Linxu was born into nobility, with a face as beautiful as jade. He had made a name for himself while young. He was the cold moon in the sky, unattainable to all, and the refined, peerless heir of the Duke's household.
The young lord, who should have had a happy marriage, was forced to marry her. Afterward, he treated her with nothing but coldness.
Life in a powerful household was not easy. Song Xingyue knew Xie Linxu disliked her, but she paid no mind to his coldness and distance, continuing to greet him with a smile. She only hoped that one day she might give him a child or two, and that things would eventually get better.
But on her birthday, he spent the night at the home of a woman to whom he had been betrothed in his youth.
When she confronted Xie Linxu through tear-blurred eyes, he merely said indifferently, "Isn't this what you wanted? If you can't stand it, then let's divorce."
Hearing that, Song Xingyue gave up on him completely. She knew they could never make their marriage work.
*
Before they married, Xie Linxu had seen Song Xingyue seducing someone with his own eyes. He knew she was scheming and fickle.
Yet he had thought that after going to such lengths to marry into the Duke's household, she would never leave.
But after their argument that day, she seemed to become a different person.
She still smiled, but no longer at him. She was still gentle, but cold to him alone...
Later, at a spring banquet, he saw her laughing and talking with another man.
Xie Linxu had not seen her smile like that in a long time. When they returned home, the two of them argued.
But Song Xingyue gave his own words back to him, unchanged. She smiled and said, "If you can't stand it, then let's divorce."
Seeing his wife's distant smile, Xie Linxu felt regret for the first time.
*Both leads are chaste.

Please add my upcoming novel, Notes on Taming a Mad Eunuch, to your reading list
Chu Ning died in a car accident on her way home from work. Just as she regained consciousness, she heard someone beside her wail, "We respectfully bid farewell to Her Majesty, the late empress."
Chu Ning slowly opened her eyes. Everyone nearby was scared out of their wits.
The empress isn't dead? Her Majesty is alive!
She quickly figured out what had happened. Yes, she had transmigrated, becoming the empress dowager of the Great Li dynasty.
Her husband had just died, her young son had become emperor, and she had barely been empress dowager for a few days before she had tried to take her own life for love by smashing her head against a wall... Things were not looking good. On top of all that, the exceptionally handsome eunuch beside her seemed to dislike her.
Zhang Yi, the head of the Directorate of Ceremonial, had been the late emperor's most beloved eunuch. He held immense power, used ruthless methods, and was feared and respected by everyone in the palace.
To Chu Ning, Zhang Yi was a madman who smiled as he killed.
She wanted nothing but to stay alive. When Zhang Yi glared at her ominously over a memorial, she gave him a servile smile. "I'll do whatever you say, Eunuch."
Later, when his long fingers stroked her calves without a care, Chu Ning realized something was wrong. Everything was wrong! Had she become this eunuch's bedfellow?
Zhang Yi gazed at her with a faint smile. "Didn't Your Majesty say you'd do whatever I say?"
What else could she do? She'd just have to do whatever the eunuch said!
*
Zhang Yi was born into a low station and had climbed step by step to a position beyond anyone's reach. He had hated Chu Ning, and when he finally forced her to her death, it had been as easy as crushing an ant.
But she hadn't died. After waking, her nature had changed completely. She had become gentle, obedient, and good at reading the room.
He thought she must have changed tactics to trick him into letting her live.
But the empress was so well-behaved that perhaps there was no reason for her to die after all.
Until one day, it seemed his empress had fallen for someone. She began to find her eunuch distasteful.
Zhang Yi smiled as he watched Chu Ning joke and laugh with someone else. That night, he forced his way into her bed curtains.
His eyes were dark as he said, "Your Majesty, he has what I have, too."
Chu Ning tried to escape, but Zhang Yi seized her hand. He licked her palm and coaxed her. "Be good, my lovely empress. Go on, feel for yourself."
Theme: Treat others with sincerity
Can the author write a side story about the second male lead? It would be great if the female protagonist in the IF side story could renew her relationship with General Ji after she reconciles. I would torture the male lead so hard that I feel I have suffered a lot of grievances.
When I saw this, I thought this was a sweet article 🙏
🧋 When will you open the next book? I'm already looking forward to it!!
Extras are the right direction for the male protagonist in my heart [Spread Flowers]
The original Changzhou and the if version of Changzhou finally overlapped! In the end, it's all a good boat! Yueniang Changzhou is forever happy! ❤️❤️❤️
[Crying loudly][Crying loudly][Crying loudly] It would have been great if it had been like this before. It was so awesome!!!!
