The Princess Consort Marries Again

In the third year of their marriage, Gan Tang's husband asked her for a divorce.

Gan Tang and Song Xuan, the Marquis of Huainan, had been promised to each other as children. They had grown up together, and their families were well matched. Gan Tang had never imagined she would hear those words from Song Xuan.

Only then did she learn that Song Xuan had always loved his cousin. But she had married someone else years ago, and when he realized he had no chance with the woman he loved, he resigned himself to marrying Gan Tang.

Now, however, his cousin was a widow and had returned to her family, ready to marry again.

He wanted to marry her.

If you no longer love me, then I will leave. Seething with resentment, Gan Tang divorced him. Her own family wouldn't take her in, so she withdrew to Changqing Temple.

There, she met someone.

Prince Chu Fu Xiao had returned to the capital with illustrious military accomplishments. A royal prince, the emperor's younger brother, he was the talk of the town.

Gan Tang wanted nothing to do with him and kept her distance. But after one reckless night, the two became lovers.

She didn't think much of it, but Prince Chu seemed to take it to heart. Before long, the two had become regular lovers.

Song Xuan thought he didn't care about Gan Tang. She was proud and beautiful, nothing like his cousin, who was gentle and refined.

But after he married his cousin, he didn't seem as happy as he had expected.

As his days grew dull and lifeless, he began to miss all the times he'd shared with Gan Tang.

He regretted it.

He wanted to rekindle their relationship, but all he saw was Gan Tang being relentlessly pursued by Prince Chu.

Fu Xiao was unruly, arrogant, and domineering.

After returning to the capital with great military honors, he couldn't be bothered dealing with all the people eager to curry favor with him, so he retreated to Changqing Temple outside the city.

There, he met Gan Tang.

And fell in love at first sight.
