During his first demon-extermination mission, exorcist Su Yanchen is struck by lightning and remembers that he transmigrated.
Driven by the compassion he brought from the modern world, he spares his targets, two young fox spirits. But he is unexpectedly affected by a love potion and dragged back to their fox den, where he meets a cold, beautiful nine-tailed fox spirit.
A month later, Su Yanchen returns to his sect, expecting to go back to a peaceful life. Instead, he discovers that he is a puppet under someone else's control and that his background is shrouded in mystery.
Su Yanchen: "..." There's no way I'm staying a puppet.
He decides to flee the sect and head to Wangyue Mountain, the fox spirits' territory, to settle down there.
But before he can even start making plans, Su Yanchen unexpectedly learns that there is a blood feud between him and the fox spirits, or rather, between their fathers.
Here's the key point: his father stabbed Yinqing's father straight through the heart.
Though their fathers have yet to be seen, the discovery also dashes his hopes of settling down on Wangyue Mountain.
"Forget it. Surely there's somewhere in this vast world where I can make a home?"
Su Yanchen does his best to accept the situation. As he considers what to do next, he also searches for a way to cure Yinqing's cold poison, to repay him for saving his life.
At worst, he'll keep his distance from this nine-tailed fox spirit from now on. Once the other man forgets him, he won't have to worry about being hunted for revenge.
In the end, hard work pays off. He finds a cure, but it requires dual cultivation with the big fox.
Su Yanchen falls silent. Su Yanchen reflects on what happened. Su Yanchen decides to accept reality.
"Fine. I made it through that whole month, so why should I be afraid of dual cultivation?"
Just as he makes up his mind, he senses the bloodline of a certain nine-tailed fox spirit in his belly.
Su Yanchen: "..."
Su Yanchen: "???"
Su Yanchen rubs his belly, utterly bewildered. "Fox spirits can get men pregnant? How have I never heard of that?"
Before Yinqing finds out about the feud between their fathers, Su Yanchen secretly hides his increasingly round belly every day. Once he's cured Yinqing's cold poison, he'll be able to leave Wangyue Mountain without a care.
A few months later, once he's confirmed that Yinqing's cold poison is gone, Su Yanchen quickly grabs his bags and takes the chance to run.
But halfway through his plan to run away with the baby, he runs into the furious nine-tailed fox spirit coming to chase him.
Su Yanchen: Oh no, he's here for revenge!
Yinqing: Damn it! This exorcist abandoned me and ran off with my baby!
Reading notes:
1. Includes childbirth. No intersex characters, not scientifically realistic, and explained in the story. There will be a running-away-while-pregnant arc.
2. A beautiful gong who talks himself into falling for the protagonist, a nine-tailed fox spirit x an exorcist from the human race, a pure-hearted shou with a slight straight-man streak.
3. The fathers weren't truly enemies. The romance is sweet at its core. One-on-one, sweet and doting.
4. Many original setting details.
Theme: As the heavens move with vigor, a gentleman should constantly strive to improve himself.
Why doesn't anyone seem to be there... I'm the first! (Stick to sticker)
